We have a 28 footer that we have an uncompleted restoration in progress. My husband has Alzheimer's and I cannot drive it. It has a rear bath in great condition. We changed the foldout bed in the back to two twin beds (one on each side to allow easy access to the bath) with storage above and below (original). We had it carpeted when we bought it 10 years ago and had planned install hardwood or cork , but my husband's health plummeted and we need to sell it now. We took it to Airstream headquarters in Ohio for the winter the first two years we owned it..... they checked everything out, windows, airbags, mechanical, added a TV antennae, replaced loose rivets, found no leaks, rust or other concerns. We replaced the microwave and refrigerator with new. (electric only fridge, never been used). The original upholstery was recently washed on gentle cycle and looks good. Leather captain's chairs are in excellent shape. We are in the process of replacing the vinyl stripes and polishing the aluminium on the exterior. It has one dent in the right rear roof where someone backed into the tree. It does not leak. (you cannot see it unless you get on a ladder) It has been in storage for six years. We bought new tires a year ago and will have to replace the batteries before selling. We drove it from Knoxville to Pigeon Forge and up our mountain last March, after we had it in the shop replacing the wiring. We plan to finish the restoration before the Rod Show next year, here in Pigeon Forge in order to sell it there. However we would sell to someone interested in finishing the project. If you know anyone looking for a 28 footer please have them call me. When we stored the RV everything worked, got 15 mpg and looked great. Thanks 865 567-9505.

First of all, thank you for posting, and my respect and admiration for your strength in dealing with the challenges you face with your spouse. I purchased my coach from a person who's health was poor and who's spouse has Alzheimers. It made them very happy that their pride and joy was going to a good home and would be well taken care of.
May I be so bold to ask if your coach has the Isuzu turbo diesel option? It would make a huge difference in resale and desirability.
Cheers
Tony

You shouldn't have any problem selling it and getting a good price for it. Good luck! Dave...
I think the 28 footer is one of the best looking lengths.

Maybe I need to get a small plot (so I don't have to worry about grass cutting!) with a shop in Richmond so I can tap into the local resources?

With as many Airstreams as you've been talking about buying you're going to need something more than a "small" plot

I know what you mean. If I tried to implement all of my ideas I wouldn't be able to retire until I was a 150

Ya gotta dream!
There are actually a bunch of salvage and drivable motorhomes from that era on Spartan and Freight Liner chassis that can be had for cheap. Most have a Cummins 5.9 turbo diesel, Allison MD3060 6 Speed, and an Eaton differential. All sized for a 20,000 vehicle.

Mate, you have a masochistic streak a mile wide my friend. Concentrate on getting Bella done first; remember, Classic moho's are just like woman; you go off and have an affair with another piece of aluminum, Bella will make your life, hell on earth.
Cheers
Tony

Martin,
If your 28' donor has either of these fridge vents I would be interested in buying the vent AND the vent frame.
I want to eliminate the solid fridge access cover on my Argosy and replace it with a louvered vent. The early Argosies used grated holes in the floor as the air inlet. I'd rather have a louvered opening if possible.
Brad

I will take a look when I next go to Airstream NE Brad.
I would assume the donor doesn't have them though, as they installed modern (plastic) vent covers for the fridge and would have used original type if they were there.
