Here is a lawyer with advice on selling a used vehicle;

He says that "as is" is the default for an individual selling a
used vehicle. Anyone buying a 30 year old anything needs
to understand that anything can go wrong at any time. If
a potential buyer does not understand that don't sell it to
them, you are only creating problems for yourself.

Echoing recent comments . . . you would be well advised to put explicit language like "sold as is . . . no warranties express or implied . . . " etc. in that blank area, rather than leave it empty -- IMO.

Also, there should be a line below for the buyer to sign and date, acknowledging receipt of the bill of sale, with a copy for you to keep.

Good luck,

Thanks, I was going to leave it blank, but that sounds like a plan that most folks here agree on.

I sold my old Sprinter RV to a guy from Las Vegas and on his drive home, he went into limp home mode over the Turbo Resonator, pretty easy fix but a disappointing first impression. I couldn't do anything as he was halfway home when it happened.

So when I bought my Airstream it shut down on the west side of Wyoming. Just blew a coolant hose, but nothing I could do about it. Stranded in LITERALLY the middle of nowhere I ended up walking to the train station after being towed to a mechanic who was gone for the weekend. See America by train. Came back and finished my trip a week later. The agony of infrequently used vehicles. Can't really hold it against the seller

Mine did not sell today, so I lowered the price to 13K for one last effort. Amazing that ebay has a minimum limit on buy it now, forcing me to set it to over 16K. I would have rather set it to the original price of 14K.
Anyway, if it fails to sell this time, I need to see what the rules are for being buried in a Airstream? Who says you cant take it with ya

Wayne, I just noticed you had a bid on your auction! Hopefully one or two more will bid to get the price up there a little higher. Bottom line is someone is going to get a nice 270 for a great price.

I said OH BOY when I saw that, but the bidder is from the UK and I dont think the 270 is watertight enough to row across the pond.

I have another interested from Texas with relatives not far from here.
I also modified the terms, declaring that I most likely will end the auction before the weekend and take the highest bidder as the winner.
For me time is more important than extra money.

You would not believe all the Airstream stuff I am finding in the basement!

Getting your MH to the Uk would be relatively easy Wayne....RORO ferry from Newark to Liverpool, and about $3500 to ship, plus duties and paper work. Believe it or not the largest expense/issue is getting it to Newark.

If your buyer needs help on importation point them towards Schumacher Cargo (https://www.schumachercargo.com/) but those guys only handle port to port on MH.

I sold my 77 24' Argosy to someone overseas for $3K just to get it out of the yard. He paid more than that to ship it to Germany, and found things missing and broken when it got there. He was happy.
Got this strange request on the sale this morning:

Quote:
Hey-
I like your Airstream. If you would take $10k, I’m interested. $1000 deposit now upon signed BofS, and balance in cash (Benjamins) when I pick up. Could be 45 days or so for me to get there. Two 16 But I’m good Three 46 for it, if you are ok with three 009 waiting a few weeks.
Let me know,
Hank
Can someone translate the part I underlined?
I am already too low on the price. $13K is damn cheap for what it is and what it can be.

If I cant complete the sale, I will have it in my estate to go for no less than $15K after a little detailing in the Spring.

The sad part of that is that I wont be there to go over the intricacies of my work, I documented most of my work, but the little bit that is in only my head is priceless to a new owner.

The coded phone number matches with Henry who works at or owns this company. If he wanted to talk to you all he had to do is PM you his phone number.

Personally I don't care for someone that tries to low ball a person just because of pressing circumstances. Your 270 is worth well more than the asking price. I'd be interseted myself if I didn't have so much invested in my 20'. Hopefully the UK bidder will work out.

I would never have put that together. He is a sneaky SOB, I dont play well with sneaky people, I like to be up front and open about transactions.

My method is: If you like my deal, buy it or look for a better one.
Thanks

If you got that message through ebay he hid the phone number that way because ebay doesn't allow phone numbers and email addresses to be sent within their messaging system. Doing so would allow people to use ebay to advertise the auction and then make a transaction outside of ebay. Ebay looses out on fees at that point.

Well I guess that's how SCUM gets their phone numbers put out on ebay and other places that might have a fee for selling. I had one from the UK do the same thing when I was selling a 67 Safari on Craigslist. Had a lot of fun with that sob. Good luck on selling it to someone that will care for it. He needs to learn what the old saying take him behind the ole wood shed means

Classic MoHos For Sale?

Gee! I learned two things. How to conceal a number. And how to cheat auction sites out of their commission. I’d probably avoid the conniver.

Another less devious explanation for posting your phone number in that way
is to defeat phone number scanners. These are bots that scan all public
postings of all web sites looking for phone numbers that they can provide
to telemarketers. They are the real scammers

Looks like he inserted a phone number, (216) 346-3009, into his message in a way that he hopes will avoid having it harvested for robocalls or whatever. Guess I just messed that up for him.
