I live in the county east of San Diego. I drove past a property today that has a Classic MH sitting on it. I could see someone so I stopped. They are planning to sell it.
It is a 1984 300. Original interior that has "not" been cared for, torn and worn, but it looks like most of it is functional and has had someone living in it until recently. The plastic looked brittle. Missing one of the AC covers inside.
The outside skin is clean from dents except for an area I could see on top of the front cap from a distance. 86.5K on the odometer. Bumpers and banana wraps look straight. No Alcoa wheels, looks like steel with a chrome cover. The latest tag on the license is "2007". The interesting thing is that it had a "Dodge Ram Cummings Diesel" in it. Guessing an engine change out in early to mid 2000's. Just a guess.
I have the sellers name and number. I was told 6K asking price, Would take 5K. I can get some pictures if wanted. Posting just in case someone might be interested. Just spreading the word.

Very tempting, but I'm set on the Argosy; but I have set the particulars to a friend who's looking for the right AS Classic motorhome. It would be perfect for him; we shall see.

I am curious if anyone thinks there would be any interest in a 1984 270?
If my situation does not improve, I may have to sell it very soon.
I see most everyone here is interested in rigs over 30'
For me, I started with a 20' Argosy, went to a 24' Argosy and finally found the 27' Airstream to be the right size for a family of 3 who do not always stay on hard roads for our camping. My other constraint was what would fit in our back yard and 30' was to long.
So, do you think a 270 will be of interest to anyone here, or should I just advertise locally and hope for the best?

I would send a pm to izzyce ( http://www.airforums.com/forums/memb...ce-137984.html) she was recently looking for a 28ft for her family in Cambridge, MA.

Hear, hear; have enjoyed your threads Wayne, and hopefully looking forward to more of them. You have the only 270 I know of.
Cheers

Thanks for the good thoughts, but a few hours after my post, I had to go to the ER for a new problem, so it leaves me in a tough spot.
I would love to plan for my 2019 wanders in the 270, but with health issues coming faster, I also need to get the MH ready to sell.
The wife has no idea how to handle the sale of "my toys" and I am sure she would get ripped off selling my stuff when I am not there to advise.
If by some miracle I am well enough to do a few more trips, I would hate to not have my rig to do them in.
I am not sure which way to go?

Wayne, a few months ago I was facing a very similar dilemma due to a health issue so I have some idea of what you're dealing with. I had two weeks to figure out what to do with everything. In then end I did the best I could and fortunately I got lucky and everything came out just fine.
I say keep the 270 and enjoy it if or when you can. Should something happen to you just make sure your wife knows to contact us here on Airforums. I can't think of a better bunch to help advice on how to sell it when the time comes.
Good luck to you!
Brad

Best Wishes
Wayne,
We wish you all the best for a speedy recovery and echo Brad's advice. Stay the course and see how things work out for you, your family and the 270 of course. Although I'm the contented owner of a 350LE and enjoy the spaciousness of 3 rooms i.e. panoramic rear bedroom, full-size bathroom and a spacious kitchen, dining, and living area, We've come to the realization that these are best enjoyed when the Airstream is at rest. On the road, however, it is another matter particularly when confronted with a loss of bitumen, narrow but exciting overnight opportunities and, picturesque RV parks that are configured more to ward-off rampaging armies than accommodating anything longer than a well equipped mobile teepee! At times like this, we are overcome with "270 envy" and fully understand why you are reluctant to let your pride and joy.

This is the best solid advice IMO. In the worst case scenerio, make sure she knows how to log in and post on one of your threads or start a new one. There are plenty of good, honest, knowledgeable people in our Classic Motorhome section that would be glad to help steer her in the right direction. I need to do that same thing with my wife......it may be a bit morbid to talk about this here but it's practical advice. Many of us, if not most, are going to be up against it eventually.
One other thing Ive done is keep a running log of just about everything I do to the rig. We have a hand written copy and a copy on a flash drive that gets updated periodically. So it can be copied, emailed, looked at should the time come when Lynn would have to sell it without my advice. All entries are dated and a receipt kept in another file folder.
One more thing I did was to get a professional appraisal. I did it for a agreed value insurance policy but it will be a tool to use when it comes time to sell. Not that it's a accurate fair market value but at least it's a document to refer to. Best of luck to you Wayne!
Mike

Mike, just remember you get my 370LE when I vapor lock or go up in spontaneous flames.....the others will probably be sold real cheap.....the wife (X) won’t want them and neither will the girls.....Regards, Bob
