Nice looking Argosy

Hey guys, if anyone looking for a 28ft Argosy this is a nice one for cheap. Looks pretty unmolested too which is a plus. At least for me.

Tony's DW said "no"...... a bit more colourfully and with a lot more emphasis ....as I now have, three motorhomes, five cars and three motorcycles.

Peter to the rescue maybe?

Cheers
Sidekick Tony

PS Had a very nice long chat today with a bloke in Idaho who converted a 1974 Argosy 24' to a Cummins and Dodge 47RH transmission. Very knowledgeable and a neat guy, who also just finished putting a Cummins into a FMC motorhome. Jim talked me out of the Allison I have....so back to plan A.

Hey Charly, is this guy local?

We met a couple times, I have the white jeep with the loud dog! I came by with “Rosie” my 20’ but you weren’t there. Id love for you to come by sometime and check her out, we are right around the corner, with the gauges out at the moment cause they’re getting new faceplates, but will be heading north soon.

There is not much information yet, not even a picture.

Apparently someones private auto collection.[/QUOTE

This one is just a few towns away from me. I'll try to get on it, and see what I can find out. Charly.

Not only do I have a picture- I went in to ask a few questions. .. first of all-the MH was FULL of junk. Not a shocker, but after talking to Saperstein for a while, I had no interest.. I think he said it was part of a bankruptcy, not sure. He basically knew nothing, he told me it’s a mess, he heard it ran, from the owner, and that they were going to clean it up, but not “clean” the outside... he was more interested in the other sport cars coming into his lot. I’d bet he still doesn’t know much, as per the listing.. his place is 10 minutes from my salon, if anyone’s interested, I could swing by and grab more pics.

I think there is front bumper damage from the one image I saw of it. Seemed somewhat significant.

345 auction

I just stopped by to have a second look at that 345 this afternoon.

In a nutshell, it is a 22k mile single owner unit that seemingly had been left for dead a long, long time ago. I was told that a fair amount of weeds and brush had to be cleared to get it pulled out from wherever it had been parked, and it shows.
If you look closely, you can see that nothing is worn out, but almost everything has turned to crap.

THE GOOD..... (Be sure to add mildew/rust as appropriate to all descriptions.)

... The exterior shell is in really nice shape and all glass is intact. The windshields are showing some fog at the edges.
... The dash is complete and in great shape. All gauges, components, and cockpit trim are intact.
... All kitchen appliances and plumbing fixtures are in place, but ugly!
... Bathroom fixtures are intact.
... The generator is present and shows 400-500 hours.

THE BAD ......

On the outside....

... The underside is covered in rust, as is almost everything that can rust. Even the air cleaner housing under the dog house literally looks as if has been at the bottom of the ocean.
... The battery drawer only opens partially, but has no batteries or bottom, and is a rusty mess.
Some drawers will not open at all. Frozen slides??
... The steps are there, but are possibly frozen in place?
... The roof a/c units are in place, but the covers look pretty beat.
... The Alcoa wheels are there, but a couple are heavily corroded.
... The front bumper is pushed about four inches sideways (to the left) and the banana wrap is damaged at that point.

On the inside.....

... Other than the good points, the interior is trashed, and reeks of must, mold, mildew, and mice.
... The overhead cabinets are coming apart, and falling from the ceiling. Most have missing panels, and appear to have succumbed to the effects of excessive moisture. The same is true of most of the base cabinets.
... The carpet is a disaster. There is no carpet in the kitchen/bath area. The particle board subfloor is exposed and showing a lot of moisture. There is no sign of any hardwood flooring, so it would appear that this coach had originally been carpeted from front to back.
... The back frame of the manual fold out couch appears to be warped from moisture.
... The driver and passenger seats are discolored and permanently stained.
... The barrel chairs and dinette seating are present, but its hard to imagine ever getting the stink out of them.
... The rear heater is missing, the front is questionable at best.
... The bed platform is falling apart.

THE UGLY....

... This coach likely suffers from all of the problems related to not being used for years. It was towed to this location on a hook, not a flatbed. No one seems to know anything about a tag axle. It has apparently been used as a storage bin for an extended time. No one has any idea when it last ran. The engine has not been started. The status of every system in this coach is doubtful. Does ANYTHING work? Was it ever winterized??? Is the engine blown??
This thing is the ultimate black hole for cash. Good luck with your bidding!
