Talking of plans and ideas Tony.....

Did you draw any for your dinette table? I know you have given a detail description but I am concerned that the raised floor section that Peanut has his dinette sat on, means the space available between floor and window will be too short to allow a decent length table to drop into the height. One of the other forum members has asked if they can have Peanuts original table but I can't let it go until I am sure a lift and drop table can be made to replace it.

It does not look any better than mine. Has anyone ever reworked the inlay on one?

Total new guy here. I'll be taking a look at this one. I've been working on cars for a couple of decades, and am comfortable with plumbing and electrical as well. But that.... that might be a bigger project than I am looking for.

Actually looks to be in pretty good shape to me, very original

I see quite a few parts I wouldn't mind picking up

Cockpit and other windows from the guy selling the bumpers on eBay. One window is broken but they look like the latches are still there.

I know if I was anywhere near Galveston, I would be trying to buy all the parts as a job lot!

Airstream parts

As from the attached photo you can see that I'm in dire need of a replacement battery box for my 350E. The remaining lock gave way and allowed the drawer to extend and deposit itself on the road, narrowly missing my rear tires. Possibly the alloy curved front panel is salvageable however, I would rather source a complete drawer.
I would travel to Galveston from Austin if this Excella had a compatible battery drawer which I doubt given the length difference. I'm open to any Member's advice as to where I might source a suitable replacement battery drawer and, in return, I'd be happy to buy/steal or barter for other items of particular interest to another Forum Member and ship them on. All replies considered short of outright larceny!

might be easier just be to fabricate a new one
Most of it is simple weld together plate and angle iron
I've been told a slip roller will bend an aluminum plate to the right outside radius
Latches available on ebay

EDIT

Or Brad just has one, nevermind

While we're all on the topic, I don't think the excellas have them, but I'm on the prowl for an under-couch storage door and trim, like the pic attached. Considering adding one to the bedroom to access under-bed storage.

Also looking for some of those hatch covers shown in the youtube video of the guy parting out that excella.

If someone goes there to pick parts I'm interested in those. Shouldn't have compared to Tony's 310, his electrical compartment is twice as big as mine, now I have size envy (Mine is 20", his is 40")

Drawer Fabrication

Thanks "Magnet18" for your suggestion re drawer fabrication. You're correct in suggesting fabrication if I'm unable to source a replacement which I hope may materialize.
I agree with your comment that the drawer is essentially plate and angle iron welded into a box form. And yes, I think the alloy from could be roll formed or the salvageable piece re-formed. The problem is that fabrication presents a problem in that the Airstream is now located in rural New Mexico where metalworking options are limited. I'm returning to New Mexico at the end of October and failing to locate a replacement, I'm going to draw up a design (unless someone has the original Airstream plans??) and shop that around to job-shops in Espinoza and Albuquerque. Thanks again for taking the time to reply..much appreciated

For what it's worth, grabbing one of those hatch covers from the parted out excella might save some time for whoever does the fabricating. Assuming it's the same size and shape as your pull out drawer.

Chris, the pull down cover from the Excella may be your best bet to find a replacement cover for your new drawer, the curve is the important part. I contacted the guy to make an offer on all the parts, but have little time, since I am in the process of building a fence/gate to have more room for my future Airstream projects.

Just trying to make you feel better. It's not the size that matters.......it's the way you utilize it..........crap, who am I kidding; size is everything.

Hey! Didn't anyone tell you growing up that checking out another man's tool compartment can get you in trouble.

Cheers
