Classic 345 front axle weight??

Has anybody weighed their front axle of their classic 345, or any of the classic motorhomes? I’m looking at putting new front springs and I’m trying to pick the correct ones. I would like to not use airbags anymore because they failed.

I have a 270 and front axle weight was 4400 lb. this was measured at CAT scales and did separate front/rear weights.

It’s probably the best way for you to get accurate front/rear axle weights

The sticker is not there, it was probably removed many years ago

Assigned weights are shown in the link below and probably mirrored in your manual.

If you want to know the front axel you could weigh it which will give you the true weight when loaded.

A Compnine report will give you an RPO code breakdown for your coach including the front axel RPO code and factory weight.

If you are looking at the Henderson stuff, I would give them a call. I haven't installed the springs yet, but they come with a good rep and am sure they can advise on the correct application for a 35ft Chevy P30; they will have seen tons of that kind of thing.

Henderson will tell you to actually weigh the coach, or they did me anyway.

I weighed the entire coach when I bought it, it weighs 15,430 pounds. But I made the mistake of not we just the front by itself at the time. It would be best to drive across the scales again but this time I have some driveline components taken apart for repair I would like to replace springs before I put it all back together. That way I do not have to take it apart again. Thanks

Have a look on the forum for others with a coach if your build. I would have thought all 345s very similar. You can PM, someone will have the info you need.

Go to your local napa store . Tell them you are wanting to put heavy duty springs on your p30 chassis. These springs are the same height as stock springs. But they are thicker. They have a 500 pound higher capacity. The ride is a little stiffer. But it is not bad. And you don t need the air bags anymore . My naps guy found them in minutes. You could also contact workhorse . They deal with the p30 chassis and breadtruck stepvan stuff. DJ
