Thank you for the part #s!
The shop did the spacer and u bolt, not sure about part #. Found out many of these spring shops make their own u-bolts, and can make them cheap for customers
Looks like my rad shop will be doing a re core with 9/16” tubes. Hope done by Friday and driving this weekend(fingers crossed)

No problem!
I highly recommend michigan truck spring if you want them timely
Sdtruckspring is usually a few bucks cheaper but takes forever, mediocre customer service, and sometimes sends the wrong part
I was curious about the ubolts because neither Chris nor I found ones the right profile to match the originals. Would love some close ups of what they made you if you get a chance, no big deal, don't make a special trip under the airstream for it!

Here are the left and right respectively. Looks like the matched the original profile pretty close. I’m guessing the shop made these, but lists part number SPG 8T3428 U BOLT $18.95
SPG DN 34 nut $1.41
SPG SUW-34 washer $.87

Check out the crap that built up in there! Said there was some silicone from thermostat changes that breaks loose and plugs the tubes. The old core alone weighs about as much as the new reassembled radiator with 9/16” tubes (build up and corrosion). The shop took about a week to turn it around and was $660. Seems like a good deal, re-installing this afternoon

The larger tubes will make it flow better and dissipate the heat faster .....make sure you change the thermostat and use lots of silicone ! LOL, best of luck, let me know how your new fan works with the fan clutch. Regards, Bob

The "thing" about thermostats: boiled both the old and new (180 degrees). They both started to open at 180. Old never opened all the way...

Peter, I think that you need to run the 195 because of the TBI system and computer!?
I'm just amazed they use this small thermostat in an engine that is prone to high heat issues!?

I don't recall where I got the 180 degree being the best one to use, do you have any documentation for the 195?
This is from trouble shooting your TBI220 system:
. Does the engine have a fully operational thermostat? Yes – insure that the engine will reach 180 deg. in a reasonable time, go to step 5. No – Install new thermostat, proper size thermostat will be 180 or higher. 160 degree in many cases is OK but the preference is 180 or higher. If still running rich go to step 5
Sorry Kyle, don't mean to Hijack your thread...

Not sure, but I know that the system reduces fuel, timing etc. when the engine gets to temp, that should be around the 195 deg.

This is great! I’m still on a carburetor, but went from a 195 thermostat to 180 deg. Did the stovetop hot water test and new one opened wide at 185 isch. My dash temp gauge says 190-195 but think it reads a little high. Just got radiator re-installed with new hoses.

I was able to borrow a SnapOn coolant refill tool. Had the whole system vacuumed and refilled in less than 10 minutes!
No leaks, temp held, going into our trip with some confidence. About that...
Heading to Carlsbad canyon to Big Bend TX starting this weekend. Few parks in between
We did a little dry camping last weekend and all coach systems checked out. Getting out on the road tomorrow for a final on the road test and getting propane fill

Yes I run the 180 in the 310 with the Q jet. Runs good and temps keep down.
Peter, have been looking and looks like the 180 should work fine, and should not effect the the gas mileage to much, they say minuscule!? The 160 looks definitely to low unless you want to run it on the drag strip!
Kv that radiator looks great. Do you have a part number for that 7 blade fan?

When I switched the Argosy over to TBI I had the guy doing the tuning change the temperature parameter to account for a 180 degree thermostat. I don't have any real runtime to know if this was a good idea or a bad idea. I guess if/when I make the trip to Arkansas later this year I'll find out

The 7 blade fan was on when we purchased in 2018, so I have no idea about source or part number. Didn’t see any label on it before reassembling.
Still dialing in the Rostra cruise control, it will turn on at lower speed but won’t activate at higher speed. I’m sure it is a DIP switch setting at this point, I tried a couple changes without success.
I have a MDS ignition module providing the tach signal. Not sure if this affects the setting. Also, using a 16 pulse Hall effect VSS at the transmission. How would this translate to wave form and pulse per mile settings for Rostra. I may be calling Rostra customer support

These are the settings I used for my Argosy and old 310. The only difference between the two was the Argosy used square wave because of the TBI and the 310 I believe was a sine wave.
Dip Sw Setting Description Type
1 OFF Gain/Sensitivity Mid
2 ON Gain/Sensitivity
3 ON Pulses/Mile
4 OFF Pulses/Mile 4,000
5 OFF Pulses/Mile
6 OFF Pulses/Mile
7 OFF Engine/Setup Timer 8 cylinder high
8 OFF Engine/Setup Timer
9 ON Engine/Setup Timer
10 ON VSS Source Square
11 ON Transmission Manual/Auto Automatic
12 ON Controll Switch Closed Circuit

Thanks for the DIP settings, still no joy but we left anyway
Made it from Cincinnati to Effingham Il last night with an early warning from TPMS indicating a leaking left front. I purchased that because of the story Magnet18 posted, good looking out Rob! Found to be a bad seal at valve stem extender. Pulled that, air up, and we go
Yesterday, stopped for lunch and we had no voltage from coach batteries. Little poking around and found this [ATTACH]393408
Looks like the highway vibration torture test backed out the battery terminal screw. After a little prayer of thanks (not the positive terminal) hooked back up and torqued all bolts
Made it to Tulsa without incident, averaging 8.2 mpg at about 63 mph on the stock transmission. It’s a little loud, but temps are holding steady with new radiator
Heading to Amarillo TX today, really enjoying this trip!!!

Yep, just about every time!
And the next line: "Did not know Airstream ever made a Motorhome!"
Safe travels, and looks like your getting great MPG!

Looks like you are taking the western route. Didn't think you would be hitting the road that soon, always have a stop in Austin...
