Our battery drawer slide, the front one, gave out as well. I found the slides themselves are still made and available

The hard part was saving the bracket the slides are welded to. After removing the drawer from the Onion, I broke the original tack welds (to salvage the brackets) and used hardware (screws and nylock nuts) to hold everything together (don't have a tack welder). The screws made thing clumsy to put back together, but it worked. Take plenty of pictures of the wiring to help remember how to put everything back together.
If you have the same slides as we do (Accuride 301 22" long), they are at capacity with three batteries in the drawer. At some point, I may work on a better solution. Until then, I only open the battery drawer when on level ground. Otherwise the slides are torqued when extended and may fail prematurely.
