Another Rookie joins the club
Greetings from a new member. My wife and I are in the market for a well kepted 90 91 classic RV. We live in San Diego and see ourselves taking extended vacations now that I am retired. We both can drive almost anything with a steering wheel. I worked part of my way through school driving a step van in NYC, loaded with glass which was good basic, I have also driven across the country 14 times, but would like to find something around 30 feet or less for driveway parking. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks and look forward to hearing from you. Gary

Welcome the the Forums
Hi Gary,
Be sure to check the Classifieds here. It’s where I found my 1983 34’ Excella last January.
Best of luck in your search.

Welcome,
Also check out Fred's Airstream site for info on floorplan and units currently for sale www.airstreammotorhomesonline.com
Your step van experience will help with mechanicals as well since the Classic were built on the P30 Van/Bus chassis. Same as most step vans.
The shorter motorhomes are harder [more expensive] than the longer versions. Check out as many as you can. All in all the extra length doesn't have too much of an effect when going down the higway and seperate living spaces (dedicated bedroom) can be a really nice feature on extended trips.

Welcome Gary! We are all novices here.
We are now awaiting our third Airstream - can't imagine anything else. This is a great forum - you'll get great advice. When you say classic, I will assume you mean in the general sense, as opposed to the Airstream Classic.
You will need to think about many things that you want/need, one of them being length. We have recently shed a 34' for a soon-to-be smaller 28'. I guess it is too early to say how this will work out.
Enjoy your journey!

Hello Brad, Thanks for reply. I have to remember to say Airstream Classic. We are looking also for 28ft and under pre 1991. Gary

Welcome Abard Gary.
Just wanted to say that if by chance you get your AS "classic" before 1 Nov 07, you're invited to the California Stremers Fall Rally up in Kernville, Ca, (that's near Lake Isabella/Bakersfield incase that you didn't know).

Welcome Gary!
I am a recent purchaser of a Classic Airstream. I am happy with my purchase. I am still chasing some gremlins out of my coach, but all in all she is in pretty good shape to be legally old enough to consume alcohol. This forum is a great place for information. The members here have already helped me immensely. It is nice to have this place to give Newbs such as myself advice, so we can monkey wrech around on our rigs and not have to take it to the shop as often and blow all of our $$.
