AirRowan, Duramax install for Classic Power
Thank You for your contribution and for sharing Information.
quote, AirRowan
The Boat is a bit to heavy for any hills at 7,500lb with out the trailer or 80 gal of fuel. I am just guessing but I think it probably weighs 10,000lb all up.
( I am re powering the rig with a 2006 duramax this winter before I tow the thing back up north )
I redid the hitch this summer and was vary happy to read all the info on it here on the classics page and find out what people had to say about how things towed. I love this site and feel like there is an answer for just bout any question one could ask here! end quote
How are you doing on this project ? I hope you are taking pictures and documenting this great project.
I would say that there are several here that would be very open to this Power source if the fit is good and functional.
Thank You
John

It will be shipped on feb 5th from Tennessee to Key West.
I ended up buying a 2008 Duramax with 66k out of a wrecked 2500HD. I will post pics on the 7th when it shows up. I was looking at all years originally but I wonted the 6 speed transmission that came out in 2004-1/2 so this was vary hard to find in my price range..
I hope it all fits the way I want it to, I am going to use the AC and heating out of the truck as well as the cruse control/speed/gages/fuel pump/filters etc..........

Check out Rollman's pictures in the photo gallery. He is installing a Duramax/Allison in a 280.

It Looks Like Roleman has new front coil springs.
I assume he beefed up the front end for the additional weight.
New coil springs, New air bags.

Recently looked at an early 12V Cummins into an ca. 1970 Travco video. That thing took off like a shot! I know this/these D-Max conversion[s] is/are going to be great!! At least one of the FMC guys has one sitting in the garage to go ahead of an ALLISON 4-speed.
