89 325 upper rear body parts source?

Can I use parts from an 80s model trailer to repair the rear ofan 89 MOHO?
They look identical. Im watching a 325 airstream for sale that has the rear upper curved section caved in.

Ouch, that looks terrible.

The Argosy trailers had front windows that were/are the same as the rear windows in the motorhomes. The front windows in the early Argosy trailers are not tinted where the later ones might be.

The upper roof segments are basically the same as an Airstream trailer but if I'm not mistaken the length of the segments are longer on a trailer (hopefully not the other way around).

I have a bunch of pictures from a 345 and an Excella trailer that I dismantled that show the construction of the shell on the inside. If you'd like I can dig those out to see what else you might be needing for a complete repair.

Oddly enough I believe I still have the 345 inner rear ABS cap sitting in my barn.

yes, any info would be great!

Thats what I was thinking. That the front of an airstream trailer might fit the rear of an airsteam motorhome

Just to be clear, you would be looking for an Argosy trailer not an Airstream trailer. I realize that's mostly semantics but if/when you're calling around looking for parts and you ask for a right front trailer Airstream window you'll get a window that is nothing like the left rear window on a 325 motorhome!

Also, if I'm not mistaken those pano windows are still available from Airstream. Not cheap but available.

Making the repairs required to the 325 won't be for the faint of heart. You'll be tearing out the rear inside to gain access to removing the inner plastic ceiling cap. If you do eventually tackle this project you'll definitely need to keep this thread updated with pictures and progress

Dear roaming... is that your trailer or the potential donor trailer?

If a donor, the spare tire cover is probably very valuable. Unobtanium!

Paula, it's a 325 motorhome.

Unobtanium is right!

All the panels are available from Airstream and will cost you around 700.- ea with shipping. As far as i can see, you will need 5 panels. If you can secure the window assembly and the main rib at the end of the roof panel is not damaged, its a fairly straightforward job. With access to the inside, you can even use buck rivets. I strongly suggest to use Vulkem 116 instead of the the seam tape.

Peter, would it be correct to say the outer roof segments are flat panels cut to specific shapes? Or do each of the segments have some sort of preformed curved as well along with their shape?

All of the 5 upper rear roof panels are preformed, with pre drilled rivet holes on 1 side and have to be cut in length to fit. None can be substituted with a flat panel. The extra length makes it a bit of a challenge to align them properly. A big box of Clecos would be a very good investment.

Well there's the answer to that question!

I'm guessing they are longer because they are really trailer panels that just happen to work for the motorhomes when shortened.

Brad, as far as i know, the front left trailer fits the rear right MH, etc. I believe all have to be cut to fit in length. Could that be the reason, why no 2 MH's or trailers are the same?

Notice the 3rd brake light on the 325....mine does not have it so either the CO or PO installed it....I don’t think it was a factory option, nicely done though. Rare to see another blue one like mine.Regards, Bob
