Bob
Only one watch out for that I can offer.
Trans side of block eng to trans alignment dowel pins or sleeves. Easily overlooked and tears up a trans if missing.
Good luck. Heck of a project.

That is a first on me: an automatic transmission shift position
indicator in that form! How is it connected to the linkage?

wow I am impressed . ! I want to upgrade my 85 345 engine and tranny so I guess you have concluded that going from underneath was better than removing the nose or did the front suspension need to come out anyway ?

I don't think that you can remove the engine from our 345's out the
bottom. We have independent front suspension. That means that
there is a solid frame member between the two front wheel
suspension mounts. This frame member is not removable.
The solid front axle on Bob's AS is removable.
