Yeah, that whole fuel injection thing doesn’t work for me…….it’s not very reliable, our set up was not designed for it……constantly got to fool with it, etc. The heavily modified E4OD that we installed with the modulated torque converter has worked great for me…..I’m able to keep the RPM’s under control and cruise at 70-75 MPH with the flow of traffic and no worries. Also works great for downhill grades by just switching to a lower gear. All 370LE’s were geared 5:29 to 1 by Gillig so at 55MPH they were screamers anyway. But in 1989 when they were built the National speed limit here in the states was 55MPH. Regards, Bob

So you know with these Holley 4180C carburetors which are obsolete……2 stage power valves NLA. But moving forward, repaired the linkage for the fast idle/choke. We found an electric (motorcraft) choke, NIB. Everything is looking good for Saturday. Regards, Bob

We’re putting the finishing touches on the 4180C carburetor. We decided to stick with the original 2 stage power valve which is no longer made, only single stage valves are available now. We vacuum checked the original and it is good to go. New accelerator pump, gaskets, o-rings and clips. The idle adjustments were no only out of sync but way out (like 5 turns on the left and 3 on the right. We both felt that going with the single stage power valve would have lead to a tip in part throttle hesitation so keeping the original 2 stage will eliminate that concern. My good friend (Dave) at Ford has been helping me with this rebuild for 3 weeks now in his spare time. He has been with me as a customer for over 30 years and with Ford for the same amount of time. Although this carburetor is no longer available and is only rated at 600 CFM, it is ideal for the 460 application in the 370LE. The comprehensive rebuild kit that Holley provided me with was excellent. I consider myself to be excellent at rebuilding Quadrajets, but now that I’ve been walked through this Motorcraft/Holley unit it seems simpler than the Quadrajets. Well now the carburetor is now re-installed [emoji1303]……set my idle stop, choke fast idle, and mixture screws…..runs pretty dam good, no leaks. It’s raining pretty good here today so I’ll wait and road test one morning during the week. I want to make sure the TPS is working correctly for the transmission and get some hard acceleration trials in. I’ll wait for it to cool down and re-test everything. Yes, what a project that was…..I removed about 200’ of useless wire that was bunched up and wire-tide together. I ended up making 2 wood dashboards, the first one was really trial and error……I aced the second one. I probably ended up with the same amount of wire as I started with, each electronic gauge had 5 wires, but I happy with the overall job. Regards, Bob

On the 370LE the fuel pump inertia switch is located outside, above the fuse board, should be black box about 2” square with white wires going to it…..useless eliminate it. Regards, Bob

We had the week off, so we started in Cooperstown then on Monday we went south to North/South Lake campground in Hunter, NY. We scoped out a few premo sites from our last visit there with the 370LE. We stayed there until Friday. It was probably the nicest week of the year.Click image for larger version

Still finishing up a few projects on the 05, 34’S/O. Got the washer/dryer install done….about 42 hours, installing the new 3000 watt inverter, for the coffee maker and SO’s hair dryers and going to install 2 new Alcoa aluminum interior walls )kitchen. I’ll be getting back to the fire suppression system install on the 370LE as well as the new install of the old cooler (transmission) from underneath to the grille area behind the front right headlight in January. I got a phone call from a customer of mine that I’ve been dealing with for 32 years this morning. The dealership that he has been working at sold recently. They have been sitting on these (2) 30 lb cans of R-12 for 27 years. The parts manager knew I wanted them and offered them to me for $800.00 a piece over the last 15 years. Well…….he lost his job last month with the sale of the dealership…….couldn’t happen to a nicer guy ! My tech that I have been doing business with for 32 years got them both for me @ $300.00 a piece plus (4) Snap-On beach (lake) towels !!!!!! What a score. Charly (Streamquest) said he’ll be driving his 370LE down to my shop for a recharge. When we unexpectedly pulled his 460 out for a rebuild we lost the R-12 gas because I didn’t bring my recycler with me. What a score !!!!!!Regards, BobClick image for larger version

Any interest and availability to help reclaim the R12 in the Big Silver Onion?

I still have to attach my gauges to figure out what’s going on, but I likely need to replace the compressor or expansion valve (and drier) and don’t want to vent whatever is in there to the atmosphere.
