everyone needs a break sometimes .taking the 345 to Mtn Lake White Mtns NH this weekend hoping its so hot I can leave that rear heater off until I fix/replace the original whiney unit.did you get those pix I sent its just the original duo therm 900 from 1985 with a squeaky fan .I may rip it out just for safety from what I read about their history .new air bags in the coil springs are an unbelievable diff on these rigs .Putney Vt (koa )was a good weekend they have a classic RV get together - a nice place good people.

I really enjoy the 370LE more anyway, no complicated wiring. Although the 396XL is nice, it’s to big. If we don’t go to Idaho in the 396XL , I’m going to sell it. It would be good for full timing in Florida or somewhere else but it’s really a pain in the ass to work on. I have other projects that I want to do to the 325LE and trailer so maybe it’s time to get rid of it. Anyway......I’ll clean up the 370LE and get “r” done. Regards, BobAttachment 395761
Not aluminum... Doesn't match the collection....
Ditch it or trade it for a skydeck

Think that’s a side effect of covid. Think they go stir crazy trapped at home and can’t figure out how one can have a fulfilling social life in the shop working on projects!

And wearing a mask is nothing new!

We kick off the summer season with Memorial Day weekend and 41 degrees Fahrenheit. And to think on Wednesday it was 91 degrees, I was having problems with the Dometic thermostat (again) and was worried I would not be able to use the AC. Well I’m glad I got the POS Dometic thermostat situation rectified (again) I’m also glad I made the investment into the (Warmly Yours) heated floor and the replacement of the 2 furnaces. On another note removing the transmission cooling lines from the radiator proved favorable results. Although the temperature was in the 40’s on the drive out here to Cooperstown, the transmission temperature never went above 140, which tells me during normal summer season driving my goal is 170 degrees constant. Although we wanted to take the 396XL here for the trip, I’m in my favorite ! Regards, Bob

Day 3 of the leak test.....no leaks ! First time I’ve never had a camp fire camping, set up the flags, outdoor rug, etc. stayed inside the 370LE most of the 3 days watching WWll movies and relaxing. Kind of forgot what that was all about. Next weekend brings us to Tupper Lake and hopefully better weather without bugs.....wishfull thinking. Regards, Bob

Nice! We took in about a cup of water each night. Could certainly have been worse, but I’m having a tough time finding the source.

I’m still new to motorhomes and a little nervous with open fires so close to gallons of gasoline. Could be I’m overly cautious. I know an absolute number is impossible (due to conditions), any rule of thumb on the distance to a fire ring and our rigs?

For a guy with pretty good luck overall that was one unlucky weekend .we did3 days in Putney vt then 2 days in Franconia all great and sunny so we hid from the crowds at home on Memorial day and for once got it right .lots more weekends to get rained out

Finally, another great weekend camping in the Tupper Lake region of the Adirondacks, (Rollins Pond) site 254. One of my favorite spots, no cell coverage [emoji106]! Compared to last weekend’s temperatures in the 40’s, this weekend’s was in the high 80’s. All systems worked perfectly. After deducting the fuel for the generator I averaged 8.3 miles to the gallon for the trip. It’s going to be an expensive summer with high test averaging 3.75 a gallon. I’m still having high temperature conditions with the transmission, taking the radiator cooling coil out of the loop did not provide the desired results I was hoping for, I’m going to have to find a place to add an additional aux. trans cooler that has better air flow for driving up the long grades, temps were in the 240 range.... I’m looking for a constant of 170...... it’s been a choir to try to achieve that goal. Regards, BobClick image for larger version

Geese Bob! With all that cooling capacity you should be able to keep your beer cold in that tranny!

Think I’ve mentioned it but I look at reducing the source of heat. With out reviewing your thread, I can’t remember if you have a controller and if it has a lockup torque converter. Your torque converter must be “converting torque” on your climbs.

Finding the correct gear ratio to keep the converter in locked or near locked state should reduce the heat generation.

Without any indicators like monitoring a lockup signal or control pressure, find some speed/rpm/ gear ratio points to find a hard ratio. Not an in between that is being modified by he torque converter. The bottom line is you are running at some overall gear ratio. If that fall on a hard ratio (one of the gears) it shouldn’t produce all that heat.

If 50 mph is 3rd gear at 3000 rpms that would be a target speed for a locked or near locked condition. It plot a graph and try some climbs.

Disclaimer: Random morning thoughts after 1/2 cup of ☕️.
