345 tag axle - help please

Looking to find a new tag axle (with brakes) for our 1985 345. 10 lugs, 19.5 inches. Last week the tag axle/hub failed...it's in Ocala, and the trailer shop (Lisa's Trailer) is having problems finding the axle. Any help is appreciated...

...Btw, this is my first post...My buddy and I have been refurbishing (for the past year and half). We are newbies and have relied on the forum for lots of advice and guidance. Mechanically, we are running from Orlando to Tallahassee, Gainesville, Tampa etc, etc. Except for polishing the exterior and fixing a couple dents, we have replaced pretty much everything...once complete I look forward to posting pics and sharing the story of our project - Our mantra remains "Ahead of schedule and under budget"...

Thank you ALL!

We have had reports of Andy at Inland R V in So Cal, having the complete tag axel, less the hubs.

I did get brake wheel asymblies minus the hubs, for my tag from him.

Don't dispose of any old parts till replacement is complete.
You may end up rebuilding.

Good luck, Do let us know how you resolve this.

Cheers Richard

When you say the tag axle/hub failed are you referring to the hub with the bearings or the spindle. Another forum member had their tag axle spindle break off and they lost the wheel along with it.

If your bearings are trashed and ruined the hub, I don't know that you'll be able to find a replacement hub with the right bolt pattern. From what I remember reading the hubs are no longer available anywhere.

A good machine should should be able to weld up the bearing support surfaces and turn them down the correct size for the bearings.

Good luck!

Brad

I maybe mistaken but I thought the tag axles Andy was selling came with everything BUT the brake drums. Only the drums were NLA.

Cheers
