345 doghouse cover seal

I converted my Argosy doghouse opening to the plastic one that I removed from the 86 345. The one thing I didn't save was the rubber seal

So now I'm trying to figure out what type of seal to buy and where to buy it from. Can anyone provide me with a part number and where to order from?

Thanks!

Brad

You know your computer search skills are starting to degrade when a computer illiterate idot like me can find it in 10 seconds.

I thought you designed stuff like F35's, Bradley's and the software for the nuclear football?

That's not the only thing that's been degrading....

Nope, I just write programs to control the equipment that destroys chemical weapons....that's a whole lot easier

I was only searching the Airforums site because I figured the doghouse opening is rather unique and I was hoping someone would have done a write up on their's. Looks like I'll be doing that myself!

Thanks!

345 doghouse gasket

Hey,
I just replaced my gasket over the weekend.
Mobility RV inc
14 ft of 1328920801A. Seal bulb single w u channel 1x8. Black LTI 1509
2.25 ft
31.50
Total was 45.00 Fits perfectly.
You don t need 14 feet . But I doubled up on the front of the cover . Mine has a lot of distance between the cover and the lip of the dash lower part.

Hope this helps. This gasket is for winibagos which also used the P 30 chassis

Dave,

I have already ordered the stuff mentioned by Tony. What's interesting is the profile for the one you used is different than the profile of the one Tony linked to. My original thought when I started looking was to find a seal that had the bulb to the side of the U channel like the one you used. I guess I'll see if the one I ordered works if not I'll order what you used.

What year is year and model is your coach?

Thanks!

Doghouse

Hello,
I got a 1985 325 with 5420 miles on it. I got a lot of stuff done, a couple more things to do too. Estate sale. It was able to be seen on the images of airstream motorhomes. It s from Maryland. I had no intention of keeping this thing. But now I m starting to really like it. I got a great friend, who is an excellent wood guy. He s making me new cabinets. Looks just like factory. I m a steel guy. Wood and steel guys are two differant types.... I made a trailor hitch to die for. But I can t figure out how to post it. If anyone wants me to make them a hitch like this, I will. I m thinking 500. Bucks. But I got get my son to post pics. There on his phone. Anybody got any questions about these units , I probably have been working on your problem. Give me a shout out. DJ

Well it turns out there's no way the doghouse seal listed by the typical Airstream suppliers is going to work for the Classic style of doghouse opening. The seal/gasket that they list has the bulb portion going straight up from the press on channel. The bulb needs to be the the side of the press on channel.

The seal that davejay recommended appears to be more like I would expect.

So after wasting $35 on the "recommended" seal I've now spent $49 on what I hope is the correct one.

This is the correct gasket

Doghouse

Who loves you, baby. I think this gasket fit better than the original one. Did you notice how much space you got between the front of the cover and the dash? That s why I doubled it up. It s very tight looking now. I ll have to fire it up tomorrow and see if it s quieter. I ll let you know. DJ out
