345 countertop

HI! I can not understand how on a $100+K motorhome AS would use vinyl for the sink countertop. It time to replace mine but I cannot figure out how to get the roll face cabinet out and off of the countertop. Is there anyone out there with know how on the removal of this cabinet?

Do you mean the spice cabinet behind the cooktop? If so, you have to drill out the rivets (we just did ours).

Are you sure Airstream did the vinyl? The original countertops I have seen in mohos have been only Formica or similar.

Ours is Formica and needs to be replaced. Wife set a hot pot on it. 87MH has redone his with Granite! Looks really nice. You may have to go over to Classicmotorhomesonline.com to see it though. don't know if he posted pictures here. Go to their forums page and search for counters.

Yes mine is vinyl on the countertop and on the wall that is next to the stove.
The vinyl continues up around the window and dead ends under the cabinets.
Its wrinkled and needs to go.

That doesn't sound very pretty, sorry. At least you're working on making it nice again! I would do a nice Formica countertop (choices are amazing!) or some folks have added granite or composites to their coaches. Just remember you're adding weight when you do that, although it doesn't matter to some. You can do a nice contrasting or coordinating backsplash, too. I have seen some aluminum tiles around here somewhere that looked pretty cool.

Pete,

Getting the cabinet out is not all that easy. There are several interference spots that you have to deal with. On our 310 it was a tight fit against the left wall, above where it contacts the range vent and I think one other spot. Since Susan didn't want it in the coach anymore I used drastic measures to get it out. Started with drilling out all the rivets and removing some screws. Once that was done I basically ripped it out from there. Have to plug a lot of rivet holes and fabricate something to cover the black water tank vent pipe but thats a minor issue.

Who knows, maybe your's will come out easier than ours did
