34.5 rear emergency glass repair

Hello everyone. The rear emergency exit glass is in need of replacement only being held up with window tint. Has Anyone had to do this. Looking for some tips of what not to do. Or should I take it to the glass shop. Mo is 34.5 I think it cracked when we put it on the trailer to bring it home. Thanks Hans.

If it is a frame like the trailers use the problem is going to be getting the frame apart. I have done it. The aluminum frame galls to the 2 metal pieces that hold the extrusions together. The frame has to be driven off those 2 pieces straight alone the center line of the frame.

If you get it apart replace with plastic as cutting a glass to the tolerances of the frame is going to be costly. I gave the glass shop the correct dimensions but he insisted on adding an 1/8 in as his ruler was better than mine. The second cutting was on him.

Howie, from what I remember the exit window on the 345s is the same window (rectangular) that is used on the trailers so I would think your instructions would be spot on.

I wonder if Airstream sells the complete hinged window section only, i.e. the part that hinges out in lieu buying the entire window assembly?

Brad

Thanks I could not find one. Think I will take it apart and replace it carefully.
