1992 Airstream 300LE

Just took it home today. I had a 1981 Excella moho (on a 1979 P30 chassis) for 13 years. It had the twins and rear bath, for my two boys, but when they went off to college, I sold it. Missed the AS so I bought this one with the rear queen. It's really nice inside and way nicer than my old '81.
Has the Banks system. The backup camera is great to have! Everything works!
But...there are a few small issues.
Missing the two small analog TV's, one in front and the other in the rear bedroom. I found an owner's manual for an LCD flat panel. I may put a couple in there again.
The dash aisle switch and exterior compartment switch tend to blow a couple of fuses according to the PO. So I'm not gonna touch them for now.
The exterior paint is peeling, but the aluminum is in great shape.
The air horns and search light are excellent! I'm really happy to have found this one. I'm trying to find any info on these 300LE's but they seem to be pretty rare. So I'm reading up on the 310's, since they're almost the same size and most likely design.

If I was to ever have to replace my 310, I would by a 300. That is a truly sweet ride.

Fred's may have some info on numbers made and layouts. I can say for sure that there were far more 310's made than 300's, although they did make a 84 300, as one was parked beside me at the rally last weekend. The coach is Bethaney533 on the site. Bethaney533 also had us giving our collective heads a shake when we found it had a horizontal radiator, as opposed to John's, mine and Mayco's vertical radiator.

Tony, Did no one ever tell you that when they built these Motorhomes, every morning they got the big box of parts out and said, ok, lets build a ..........300 today. Still have that horizontal radiator from 79, nice dash from 81 and oh yeah, the beautiful Airstream entertainment center with the 8-track. No one will ever notice, since there is no way that 10+ of these rigs will ever make it to the same place...
Joke aside, they started to get a lot more consistent when they started the 325/345 models in 84
BTW , Astro, glad to see you back in the game. I really like the early 90's 300 models, some of the finest Airstream made IMHO.

Hi - I have a 91 250, so very similar set up to yours. Have a look at the following;

Airstream.com document archive has the floor plans, specifications and original options list for the 300.

Have a look at the parts thread I updated yesterday. Use the VIN, engine code and date to establish chassis month of manufacture and engine month of manufacture. Note some things changed in 91, so best to be clear on dates as best you can.

You should have the Rochester 220 TBI with 4L80E overdrive which is a nice place to be! Even better with the Banks.

Follow the links in my post to the Chevytruck forum and the chap Hatzie has the 1991 chevvy service manuals which are fully searchable and well worth having. They have a specific section of the P30 Motorhome.

Thank you for the welcome back!
I'll get some photos up soon. The previous owner was a nautical guy and he even had some red and green LEDs on board for port and starboard. I'm taking them out and replacing with warm white LEDs that I found on ebay.
I'll check out those links as mentioned above.
Peter, good to see you're around here too. I think I first posted in 2002, so after having my 81 AS, then a Chinook, then a Winny Brave, I've come full circle back to AS and I'm never going back!

Decided to take her west to the coast for some fresh air and seafood.

It took the curves like a champ and has power to spare! I really like this one better than my old '81 Excella 28" moho, although that old biddy still has a place in my heart from the memories built with my two sons.

The 300 is going to get some good memories as well, and no better time to start than a week after I bought her, since I don't have to do abything to her she runs so well!

Went to Tomales Bay for some delicious BBQ oysters at Tony's. Parked right on the hwy.

I live in Santa Rosa and travel to San Francisco occasionally. With my other AS, I used to park across from Safeway at the Marina and walk to Chrissy Field and Ft. Point and back. I've heard that they allow overnights on the street now, in that area.

I'll be taking her up to Seattle from June 4 to 11. I'll post photos of my trip with her!
