I got the awnings mostly mounted. I have to re-position one arm on the forward awning and flip the canvas. Should be easy enough... also the rear awning looks unlevel in the pic but IRL it looks much better. I need to get it out of the cave and wash it.

Thanks! I finished them up today. Splitting an awning to make two is a pain in the neck.... looks about the same but here are better pics of the finished job!

Nice work!
Street side awnings are on my wish list as well
Do you have any details about what goes into splitting one? That's probably not something I would have thought to be an option, given all the springy coily bits

It wasn’t too hard really. I drilled the rivets in the idle end and removed it. Them sawed the tube in half. After that it was just getting the another spring and idle end from zipdee. Had to cut the fabric and hem it to match but that wasn’t too hard. The hardest part was mounting them and getting them close to even. If people notice they are slightly askew I am just gonna say it is on purpose for rain runoff...... ;-)

Good times. So planning on taking a short trip this weekend and I get the 345 home and the transmission is making a terrible metallic grinding noise when I have it in gear and push on the gas. It will move forward and back but makes an awful racket. Currently almost in my third hour of waiting for the tow truck to take her to the shop. I hate having this thing towed. Always think they are gonna screw up my tag axle. I inflated the bags as much as is safe with my bags so hopefully if 8 can get them to not jack the front up three feet it will be ok...

No news yet. I called this morning and asked if they found it and the girl on the phone just laughed. I thought about if it ends up needing a tranny finding a 4L80 to have them install if I could find one.

The 4L80E is an excellent choice, if you decide to go that way I would either recommend Jasper, or a good aftermarket 4L80E specialist that can provide you with the TCM and has previous experience with this type of conversion. Regards, Bob

If you get a choice a 4L85e is basically the 4 speed equal to what you have. The 85 has the straight cut planitaries like the TH475 you have.

It would appear the 85 is def the way to go if necessary. Good read!

Many, many years ago I had a teacher who told us, "You don't have to know everything however your future success will depend a great deal on your ability to find those things that you don't know."
That article was a great find Steve.
