1987 345 Dash Air Controller

If anybody has a spare Dash Air Controller for a 1987 345 or know where I might order one, please forward info to me. Mine is shot and the mounting bracket finally broke as well! Don't know if it matters but the number on the white part housing the push button mechanism is # 3610-501 then 3436. The number under that on the black controller body itself is # 1679501 35461. Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!! Kenneth

Kenneth,

The dash air control mechanism is from late 70s and 80s dodge trucks and vans. Try searching on ebay using "dodge heater control" as your search string. You could also go to a local junk yard and see if you can find one. About nine years ago I rummaged through several junk yards in Pasadena and managed to find a couple that would work.

I don't believe this heater control is correct but it's close.

Another one that might work.

Or this one.

This might be the right one.

Housing only.

Brad

Thanks Brad. I ordered 2 off of ebay just to be sure I could make at least one of them work. They came in and I think one of them will be fine.

I noticed that the temperature control cable was crimped which probably is what makes it difficult to use. If anyone has a spare or is parting out a MH, I could use one. Otherwise I guess I'm headed to the wrecking yards....

When you get your old one out could you post some detailed pictures?
I am about to get into my heater control and I would like to see what
is there before I break something.

Thanks,
Pete.

You should be able to source a control cable from a motorcycle shop, bicycle shop or even a good lawn mower repair place. If I remember correctly it's nothing more than a straight piece of pull cable. Just take your old one out and check out one of those sources.

Glad you were able to source a control module

Brad

I replaced one of my heater control cables a few years ago, I believe I bought it at NAPA. Like Brad said, it's simply a "push/pull" cable. Just try and get one about the same length.
Google "auto push/pull cable" and I bet you get a ton of hits.

Wow. Thanks for the help. I've had a really easy time finding the controller. I've bought two of them! I'm having a tough time finding the cable. Mine has a strange red plastic piece on the end that secures it to the body of the controller

Do share where you found it and an idea of cost?
