1986 345 in Texas - what do y'all think?

Anyone familiar with this unit, or have any thoughts on its merits and solar value? Thanks!

Good Morning, just by looking at the pix, I'd say it's in fairly decent cosmetic condition. But.....you never know without going to look at the rig and driving it. There are lots that can be wrong under the skin. I believe I see that the passenger side tag axle wheel is the spare? If so, where is the aluminum wheel at? That could be a big expense to start (if you want all the wheels to match).
I'll be honest, it's a sweet looking Airstream. I paid about the same for my '89 345LE a few months ago. Go drive it, pull the oil dipstick, the tranny dipstick. Try EVERYTHING!
Good Luck, Derek

Alcoa wheel could be in the spare position, in which case the tire is most likely toast.
Well spotted Derek... Man you are coming on fast!
As I said you would....

Let me add my thoughts...
Looks like clearcoat has been stripped, but as yet unpolished...
Odd looking non stock direction blinkers on front quarters... not too offensive tho, but holes in the panels now..
Pealing Vinyl on the back walls in the shower...
Interior looks really nice, with rich wood and smart upholstry!

If the mechanicals are good, and tires are in date, I would say thats a fair price... but still ask for things to be fixed and a discount!

I see no curtains in the bedroom, and maybe missing in the living area, but hard to tell. Curtains, if you want them (and you will in the bedroom curved windows, will not be inexpensive. In 1993 a full set for my 310 cost me over $1000, custom made.

Rosie, try to find the DOT 'label' on the tires. All tires manufactured after 2000 have DOT and a set of numbers stamped into the sidewalls. Last four digits are what you need to be concerned about. Say you have 2006 as your last four digits, this means that the tires were manufactured the 20th week of 2006. Which at this point, means the tires are not quite 6 years old. Was at a RV Show recently, and at one of the Tire Seminars, the guy said NEVER drive on ANY tire over 5 years old. He was NOT a tire representative either. My moho has tires that are older than 6 years old, and until the $ appears, looks as if all of my camping will be close by, say less than 25 miles......full set of tires, remember there are 8 on the road, plus the spare, will cost at least 2K!
Good Luck, Derek

Thanks, guys - great comments. I sold my ccd trailer a year ago with the intent of getting a motorhome, but haven't found the right one and am fighting the smart side of my brain saying to just buy a newer class c ... But I feel the need for aluminum! The other one in my area is this one -

Nice rear ladder...In the first pics, the fog light on the passenger side is askew...in later pics, both are gone...this is like a "What's Changed" game...have you been down to pet it yet?
I'm currently in Austin, sans moho(it's waiting for us in AZ...hopefully more patiently than we are), but if you want to chat, pm me for a land line #... You have to start somewhere, but I think the price is a bit steep...a lot of facts are missing(mileage? tranny type? working ac(s)?, working appliances?, etc.)...mike

I went by and looked at this one....junk....inside was in sorry shape then when we went to drive it the story goes ...well we drove a couple of weeks ago and then it just quit and we think its the starter...the present owners told me the got as part payment from someone who owed $$$. Before I left the offered to deal w/ me @ $15,000 and they'd call me as soon as they got it runnin' .... 4 weeks later no call (surprise surprise surprise)...that's just on the surface....

Nice, close to original Rig, perfect for someone who likes to turn it into their personal pet for a couple of years of restoration for maybe 12k IMHO
