Didn't get started properly until after lunch... walked the Dogs about 8 miles...

Started in the Garage, to get some paint on...
The Compartment floor had 2 coats of Satin Black yesterday, so I Bedlinered the inside, 2 coats.

I had stripped and sanded the outside of the Floor Safe, and the Primer was dry also...

I decided on Hammered Silver...

The inside is a problem... even after 2 days of soaking in Derust, it was still heavily pitted...

Best pic I could get..

I tipped in some Primer, and sloshed it around... then realized that I can't tip out the excess, as there is a overhang/undercut inside... I have just been rolling it around for a day now... I hope it will dry!

While I was waiting, I know I need to get cracking on Polishing the other Vent Cap...
We are expecting rain on monday, so need to get both Caps back on pronto!
I will do the Mod to this one later...

Now the paint was applied, and drying, it was time to go the the M/H...
Via Home depot of course!
A sheet of 1" Polystyrene to go under the freshwater tanks, and some more pipe fittings...

I arrived at my Airstream and planned to give the Reel Compartment a cleanup...

I quickly realized I was gonna need to pull the Electrical Reel out to do it properly... And the Sewer pipe storage, compartment lamp, TV cables, Splitter, Pipes, and Water hose guide...
Then it was ready!

Final act for the day at the Airstream, was some interior work, on the water tank and underbed area...

2 new rear furnace vent hoses to get my new water Tank spacing correct...

I did some other prep work, including removing the water pump, and pipework ready for the replumb, but this is where I ended up...

I mentioned before about the Gasoline smell in the bedroom and underbed...
Well here is a good place to check!
The Gas filler neck has this ABS cover over it, in the underbed area...

And look what is behind!
2 extra hidden pipes to replace!

More progress today...

Put the 35' Hose on the refurbished reel...

Did a ton of other stuff, that I will post later, but more importantly, with rain forcast monday/tuesday, I did my modded version of the sewer vent reseal...

Clean up area...

Seal the roof to vent joint...

Cut pondliner patch with a hole 1/4" smaller than stack pipe.. apply sealant under edges to Seal Stackpipe to liner joint..

Slide another ring of Pondliner to axt as "Umbrella" to lower liner..

Apply bead of sealant under vent, and screw down... Cut of excess liner, and sea edge with fillet of seatant..

With rain forecast for this week, I will be a good test for my Sewer vents!

I was over today, and here was the 'Empty" Utilities compartment ready for its next coat of paint!

I decide to go with Hammered silver to lighten up the inside and make it easier to see, and keep clean. I put the first coat on, and hope to get another one on in the morning.

While I was there, I pulled off the streetside compartment...
Its a mess...

Pretty much finished the Floor safe...
Might give it another coat of pain tho...

And buffed the first Marker light casting... like 7 more to go now..

Fun day!

Added a 2nd coat of paint to the Floor Safe, looks better now!

The Kerbside Drawer has some rust holes, still treating the rust... My gut feeling is to not cut and weld the holes, but to kill all the rust, and fill the holes and smooth with marglass. The holes are not gonna weaken the structure, and by the time I have the Bedliner on, you will not see it.

It was raining when I arrived at the Motorhome, there was something special about being inside, and hearing the rain patter on the skin!

I decided to fix the Bedroom Thermostat..
I had bought a Hunter Digital Thermostat, for the job, based on this thread:
RV Digital Thermostat Upgrade | ModMyRV

I installed it, and it works great, AND shows the inside temperature.

Moving on, I got into the water piping under the bed... and quickly realized I will have to replace the rear corner of the floor before I do.

Can someone tell me the thickness of the OSB?

Keyair; vent redesign.

Even hurricane driven rain shouldn't get past your improvements!! If it is wet inside it will be coming from somewhere else.

Should last more years than the originals, by their condition, they probably gave up 26 yrs ago, but they did satisfy the 1 yr warranty.

Thanks Dave, lets hope... The main front arrives today, so we will see.
It's both satififying and frustrating the work I am doing to my Airstream...
Feel like everything I fix, I improve, but I just keep digging more up to do!
A watertank and minor plumbing refurbishment under the rear bed, drags me into fixing..
Hose Reel
Electrical Reel
Utilities Compartment
Furnace Pipes.
Electrical wire repair
Cabinet Repair
Floor replacement

Still, keeping my eye on the prize means that when I get done, everything will be better than it was or maybe better than it was new!

I was having fun yesterday, in the rain and was planning for more of the same today, but duty calls... Girlfriends daughters Jeep broke down.
She got it towed to her home, but I am on the mercy dash to Los Angeles today. Plan is to deliver her my Jeep to use. Then I have to figure out why the Transmission suddenly started slipping, and see if I can drive it home...
Otherwise its a ride home with AAA towing..

Hi Key,

I replaced about 75% of my floor and used 3/4" plywood. It matched up pretty well. Be sure to get some good quality self tapping screws to fasten it down. The steel sub frame members that support the floor were surprisingly hard to penetrate. In many cases I had to pre-drill.

My trip to Los Angeles, for the girl's Jeep recovery...
ATF is running out of the Bellhousing, so its either a faulty Converter, Converter seal, or front pump seal... that means ther trans has to come out.

The fluid was low, as expected and smelled burned, as expected... I guess we will have a good clue as to how expenside this will really be when the trans pan is drained and dropped...

Anyway, I did find time to do some stuff on my baby...
I wanted to spend time looking for leaks while it was pouring down, and I am glad I did..

Good news...
Sewer Vents are solid and no sign of leaks from them!

Bad news...
I still have leaks..

In the rear streetside corner, you can see the darker, fresh wet patch, and see the lines running down the rear wall.

Putting my camera under the rear cabinetry, and doing an "Upskirt shot" reveals the leak's path...
For reference this is the rear streetside corner, and to the left is the metal spare wheel compartment.

My guess would be the rear marker lamps or upper window frame... as the sealant is old on all of them.

The other area is the curbside bedroom closet, where the safe was... the floor was toast anyway, I just need to locate the leak..

Its not anyway near as bad as it was, and judging by the way the water was cascading down the side at this point, it could be a few places.
The Awning acts as a gutter, and right there is where is gushes down.

My best guess is the frame around the rear curbside storage...

At home, I continued on the drawer storage... here is the rust holes..
