1984 270 Classic

Awakening our 270 Classic coach from winter's rest today we discovered our entry door vacuum assist retracting step has stopped working.
Last year the wire to the door button has come apart. We re-attached the connection and tested button with a finger instead of closing the door to see if the idiot dash light for the step went out. It did, but after several finger activated door button depressions, everything quit. No idiot dash light saying step is out, no step retraction.
All our books say it has a 10 amp fuse somewhere. Anyone know where this fuse could be?
Its not in the dash fuse panel in the glove box. Its not in the house panel next to the charger/converter under our gaucho rear of entry door curbside.
Took the button apart from the entry door frame, its fine. ??????
Any help would be greatly appreciated since we will be heading to Texas next month, and we really don't want to be driving with the step extended.

We found the entry step fuse, so onto the next project. We currently have Monroe Gas Magnum SHCOKS, Part # 557003 front, and #557004 on rear. They seem to be weak, so I want to replace them with new ones hopefully more robust with more dampening. But ours maybe weak and that is why we bounce.
Monroes are fine, does anyone have experience with Koni, KYB, Bilstein?

Where was the fuse? I never found mine. I do have new kwickie brand steps.

I have Bilstein on mine seems to be what is recommended. I have only put new fronts on and I can not believe the difference. I will be installing the rear ones later this week along with new sway bar bushings.

Air Rowan. what is your bilstein part # Did you have monroe's to start with? #557003 front and rear #557004?

Mytle lynn, up behind the fusebox to the left in our center glovebox was a small 2ndary bank that had the 10 amp fuse. No mention of this group in any of our manuals, both owners and shop manuals.

I've got Bilstien up front and they seem to work realy wel.
