What is this red switch?

I have a 1978 28' Argosy motorhome that has been a pleasure to own! We have had it for just under a year. We have figured out most of its quirks, but a few things remain a mystery. One of the items on the list is a red toggle switch that is to the right of the ignition and to the left of the a/c toggle switch. It lights up when you flip it, but it doesn't seem to do anything. Anyone have any idea what it may do? Also there is a pull that says heater on it that is next to the window on the passenger side. I can heat a damper move when it pushes in or pulls out, but the manual has not info on what it does in either position. Thanks in advance for the help!

You are a lucky man !!!
It appears that your moho has been retrofitted with the highly sought after passenger ejection seat. Use it wisely ! !

my moho has some extra switches also- get the meter going- maybe it works electric fuel pump?
Have fun !!

Anti-Evil Switch

I am not familiar with your Moho but it does not look like a factory switch.

Reminds me of a switch I had in my Westfalia. The Westfalia would occassionally stall and you could not get it started unless you waited hours.
I took it to a VW mechanic and lots of money later he told me the problem was the Westfalia "had evil in it", but he installed an "anti evil switch". What this did was shut off the fuel pump. When it stalled you turned the fuel pump off so the injectors would not flood the cylinders trying to restart.

I don't know what your switch is but it is probably not an automatic pilot.

Doorgunner beat me to it! Definitely Navigator Ejection System......

Al

.....looks to be added by a PO

..You could always check the backside and trace the wire out, it may only have the front leg (power) attached

I'm afraid you are mistaken.

That is a stealth black tank dump device. Be sure to check if anyone is behind you before you activate it.

I'd be a real test for windshield wipers.

Make sure you don't use it when many motorcyclists in matching black leather vests are behind. you.

There was an option in the 70s called a Thermosan. Pumped the black tank into the engine exhaust.

Go ahead and flip the switch. If you hear a loud BOOM, do not do it again. LJH

if it was added on after the original build the wires should be fairly easy to trace. start there and if you don't find the end, post how far the search took you.

I also had a humorous reply planned but it seems a bunch of the local comedians beat me to it.

I had a similar switch below the generator switch on the dash of Airstream One. I didn't seem to to anything or go anywhere so I used it as the power switch for the rear view camera.

Whatever you do just don't throw the switch while driving.... you never know, it might be the emergency wheel removal switch. You don't want a gear up landing if you can avoid it.

The po of my Argosy put in an extra horn At least when I pushed the unknown button something happened. He must have been a city driver The horn is located under the sink on the drivers side .Figure he must have used it for changing lanes.
Good Luck on your hunt.
Jo

Actually there was such a thing according to a friend of mine. He told me it incinerated the solids and worked quite well. I believe he had one on a step van he lived in in the early 70's in Alaska.

This switch, however, opens the stick with rope attached storage compartment. For further info check:

Mistral, thanks for bringing back the memories! I was 9 years old in 1966 and watched all of the Batman shows!

Thanks,
