Stripping an Argosy?

We've been looking at airstream motorhomes for a while now, and thanks to these forums, were able to avoid one or two sketchy purchases.

We're currently searching for the right coach (we like the shorter airstreams, btwn 20 and 28'). We're looking at an Argosy on Ebay at the moment. It's painted though (and we're obsessed with the aluminum look). We also realize that it's the guts of the beast that matter most, but we're still curious.. Is it possible (or wise) to attempt to strip one down to the aluminum? Are they even aluminum all the way, or are there steel parts?

it's hard to imagine an a/s topic that's not been covered here somewhere...

the arg's have steel end caps but are otherwise totally streams...

the arg mohos were made BEFORE the a/s branded versions were produced...

a painted trailer/moho is FAR easier to maintain but shiny has it's fans...

read these then search a bit for the 100s of other pics of polisher or painted versions...

Thanks 2air. I am such a sucker for the shiny. I'm also good at biting off more than I can chew. hmm.
