Slow filling at the pump

What is the reason for slow filling at the gas pump. I have to barely squeeze the handle on the fill nozzle and it shuts off quite frequently as I am filling the tank. Replace the fill hose?

Sounds like it could be a blocked vent hose due to dirt dobber or some other vermin or there is a crimp in the fill hose they tend to be longer on MH make sure the route taken to the fill cap is optimal it may be a replacement that didn't fit or get installed properly ie crimp instead of a
90 degree elbow etc..

Try turning the nozzle to either side. Don't hold it at the 6 o'clock but rather at 4 or 8 o'clock.

I say this because this will change the position of the backfeed on the nozzle and may work better.

If hat has no effect i would look for a crimp in the truck fill tube or something blocking the truck vent line coming up from the tank.

You can also try to only put the nozzle just half way in instead of all the way in.

I too agree with Bfrank on the blocked vent hose. Check out the filler neck and see if there is a hose attached to the top of the filler neck. Follow it and see where it goes. Possibly down to a charcoal canister where a vent would reside. Unless its a diesel where there wont be a charcoal canister.

Good luck..

Hi, is it always slow or just this last time? I have run into a lot of defective filler nozzles at different gas stations. Try a different pump or different station, if this is the case.

It has always filled slow ever since I bought it. The previous owner even told me it would. The only time I remember it seems to be when I'm at the pump and it takes a looooong time to pump gas. Right now it's on my mind and I'd like to get it fixed.

Our 76 fills very slow also but we think it's problems with pumps since our whole fuel filler hose is brand new.

Our's had a severe belly in the fill hose. So severe it acted as a P-trap. I replaced everthing between the fill and tank and it took care of the slow fill problem.

Here's the before.

You can look at my previous posts for a description of what I did.

Good luck.
