Rub Rail Trim
For those of you looking for 1/2" trim in another color other than blue or orange, I was able to find it on ebay from mhrv. They carry black, brown, tan, antique white, and polar white $33 for 100' Free Shipping!

Try looking at pinstriping tape...that's what we used on our 69 Tradewind. You need to use a hair dryer or heat gun to make the corners but end result looks awesome!!

Brad, you can try looking up MHRV in sellers using advanced search. Or They call it,"RV Marine Camper Trailer Vinyl Insert Trim Molding 1/2"
Flexible Vinyl Insert Screw Cover Trim."
I purchaced a roll. Its extremely flexible and will require no heat for corners. I'm waiting for nice weather and a wash to install but tested it on the spots that are missing, seams to fit fine! Probably gonna be real easy when warm weather softens it up even more! Just ordered another 100' when i realized it works.

Interesting. Earlier I searched for the seller MHRV with no luck. I then searched for the insert you mentioned above and still didn't find it. I then just searched for "Flexible Vinyl Insert Screw Cover Trim" and the seller and his products came up. Strange. However he doesn't list any 1/2" Insert right now. That's not really a problem just yet since I'm a LONG ways from needing any!
Thanks,
Brad

Thanks Dan. I measured my Argosy and it looks like I need about 138' of this stuff. At $19 for 25' that comes to about the same price as Vintage Trailer Supply but this has free shipping.
I won't be installing any Vinyl Insert until I figure out how to make the little aluminum end caps that cover the ends of the rub rail. All of the enc caps (about 50) are missing on my Argosy. I'm planning on making a die so I can stamp out a bunch of them. Once I have them in hand then I'll buy the Vinyl Insert.
Thanks!
Brad

He does have the 100" for $33 but the question is how black is the black. The stuff Airstream has is more brown than black. I looked at it at Jackson Center and it didn't look very good.

Here is a link to their ebay store. Great find.
For now, I am going all original which means ORANGE. It needs to match the orange VW Beetle being towed behind the Argosy!

Yup, you guys found it. Sorry I'm not as computer savy . The white and green color of my Argosy just doesnt look good with blue or orange trim. I still can't find the factory gray or aluminum currently on it, so I went with black which should complement the tires nicely . Heres a pic of 100' roll to show flexibility and color.

Painting rub rail trim
There are several aerosal can paints in several colors that say they adhere to plastic, vinyl, etc. Has anyone tried painting these trim bands prior to installing?

Greg,
I'm sure that would work if paint is rated for that, but it seems like alot more work. This stuff I purchaced doesn't just slide down the track, its already gonna be a project pinching a couple inches at a time X 150+ ft. around RV. I personally wouldn't want to waste more time or money on painting. Besides White or Black go with any paint scheme.
I see alot of Argosy's that are white and brown, and personally think orange (faded or not) makes it ugly. Just my opinion. Obviously not a Cleveland Browns fan. On the other hand I think orange or even blue would look great on this Argosy.
