Sbell333, welcome to Airforums!

That's a nice looking Argosy. You'll have to post more pictures and tell us about the coach.

By the way, did I say we like pictures?!

i can get more, but i do not have the argosy right now, still in shop, it was sitting for about 6 years, but everything works from generator to ac, just can not get furnace to kick on, but may need to let gas run through longer. Pretty new 454 engine, hopefully changing all the brakes to stop, because pedal was going to the floor.

It would appear someone took real good care of it over the years and after sitting for 6 years it's not unexpected for the brakes to need work.

Looks like you got a good one

Sounds like you have the automotive covered. The RV part probably just needs to be checklisted. My family's 69 Airstream trailer sat for over 25 years (most years it was covered storage) and it had been cared for and it visually looked great inside and out but pretty much everything behind the walls had to be replaced (none were repairable) - water heater, battery, converter, water pump, water lines, A/C (not easy), furnace, black tank valve (no grey tank on the 69), LP Gas lines and tanks, and now it is getting a new refrigerator (not trivial because there is no 1:1 replacement and the new ones are larger) + new formica and flooring (Infinity woven vinyl). My Mom had already recovered the cushions and put in new curtains several years back but then it went back into storage. I'm sure the prior owner has already done the key system repairs or replacements but you should at least checklist them to be sure they work and are safe.

No need to run your pump while your filling the fresh water tank. The pump is for pressurizing the lines when you want water out of the faucets.

Have you checked the condition of the fresh water tank? There are a lot of tips and tricks out there to ensure the tank is clean before use.

we have a radio and have the brown box speakers that look original and a CB, but none of the speakers work. One other thing, the furnace blower kicks on but i dont think the pilot ever lights. The stove top will light up.

Gotta luv the 70's earth tones -- long live brown, beige, orange, mustard yellow, and if you're lucky, avocado green! I think they're poised for a comeback -- seen the new Star Wars films?

Unfortunately on the radio and speaker wiring you're just going to have to dive in and start tracing the wires. There have probably been enough previous owners who each added their own hacks that will have made a mess of the original wiring.

The 77 motorhome service manual is a pretty decent manual and should be able to help some with the speaker wiring. There should also be a section that covers the furnace as well. On the furnace you need to make sure you have propane pressure when trying to light it off but I'm not a furnace expert so hopefully someone else will chime in with some suggestions.

I believe the 77 service manual is available in the Classic's sticky thread. If you can't find it I'm sure we can find a link for you.

Cool water

maybe a stupid question but i will ask anyways lol, this weekend we are filling our water tank for the first time. I understand you have to use water pump when filled to get through out the system. When you are emptying all water, I see that toilet water and sink water water have different levers on outside, but what about water you do not use, how do you empty the entire tank.

Once your water tank is filled you then need to turn the pump on to get water pressure throughout the system. If your pump is not on you won't get any water out of your sink faucet.

The water system in your coach will have several different low-point water drains. There will be valves with a hose or pipe that points down to the ground. Your water tank will definitely have a valve like this that is close to the tank itself. Opening the valve will drain the water from the tank.

Did you find the link for the 77 operators and service manuals? The manuals should provide information as to where the drain valves are.

new paint and floors

here are some pictures of new paint and floors from last year. Only problems we have ran into so far is that when we run water through the tank, it seems to leak in the middle underneath and will not pump through. The stove works so i know the gas works but can not get the heating system to work
