Talking How many on the road?

I have been on this website for about two weeks and have read allot of people buying these wonderful moho. I am curious to get a number of "How many are on the road?"
From 72 all the way up to 78 I believe since then the name was change to Airstream.
So Again I ask “How many Argosy's are on the road?"

I have a 76 28 footer with a bed in the rear D model.
How many are in the USA?

Welcome,

I'm pretty sure that Argosy was a MODEL that airstream produced, that at the same time they also produced Airstreams MOHO's. I'm sure that someone with more knowledge than me will chime in here. I'm aware of a couple of new to the forum Argosy moho's in the last couple of months so maybe they will have the figures that you are looking for.

Argosy trailers and Motor Homes were built by Airstream, mostly in a separate plant located in Versailles, Ohio. They followed the basic Airstream design with several differences. The Aluminum is painted and the end caps are one piece steel not segments of Aluminum. Some new concepts were tried on these units. I believe the plant was shut down around the time that Airstream changed owners.

There are plenty of these units on the road, but I have no idea what the production numbers were.

The Argosy motor homes came first, circa 1973 or so. The Argosy motor home was painted silver, and badged an Airstream about 1979. Argosy was a wholly-owned subsidiary of Airstream.

I saw a posting elsewhere where the number of Argosys built between 1973 and 1979 was recorded at something over 5000 (it was about a recall notice). If you look on the chassis behind the waste tanks you may have a number painted on the chassis, ours has the number 58 on it. Could this be the 58th one made? It is quite an early MH, being made in 1974 according to the paperwork.

58 out of 5000 you have a good one.

Hi,
With 5000 and many are being turned for scrap. It would be nice to get an exact number. I will look at mine to see what number it is.
