Having 28' Argosy MH towed

Hello all, been searching on here, reading and learning about the Argosy MH.

I am closing in on purchasing a 28' Argosy. Unfortunately its not in running condition.

I will have a professional tow service haul it home for me. Is there anything I should know beforehand? Is it better on a big flat bed? Or towed behind with front wheels lifted?

I could only find one photo of an Argosy being towed(attached). And tried searching on here but with no great success. I'm sure the towing guys will be knowledgeable but what are the chances they've towed a vintage Argosy before, figured I'd ask.

Thanks for your time and any help,Click image for larger version

Here is the 28ft we bought and used as a parts donor for Bella and then Peanut.

Learnings?

1) It is nearly 14ft high on a goose-neck flatbed trailer so make sure the route doesn't include height restrictions.

2) Forget the posted weight on the chassis plate, it was supposed to have a kerb weight of 10,000 and a GVWR of 14,500 but actually topped 12,000 as loaded. Which was close to the tow limit of the TV

3) Even on a flatbed the butt end grounded out on loading and unloading. We were stripping for parts and so that was not a huge issue, but unless you are very very careful you will loose the water tank valves.

Thanks for the reply Martin. Unfortunately I passed on this one, had a lot of rust, much rougher than expected.

I will hold out hope and keep looking.

I was looking at full size RVs being towed. I began to think the method of lifting the front and pulling like a trailer would work best.

Thanks again for the info, I appreciate it.

28 ft Excella Motorhome

A couple of years a go ,had ours towed out . Had to get it on the street first. had a semi hook up to the front . Towed it about 3 miles 300.00 to a shop. Dragged a little at 4 ways .
