fridge pilot light burns out the vent holes

i have a 1975 argosy mh (24) with the original fridge. the fridge was working well on electric or propane but now when i try to light it on propane the flame is burning out the vent holes of the burner and not out the top. i have tried to blow it out but i can't seem to remove it. have others had this and how did you fix it?
