Carpeted Univolt Box and other Questions

So I have just a couple of questions after our first stay in the Argosy 28 Moho. I've searched though the forums and couldn't find the answer. so here goes:

1. Our Univolt box is completed carpeted over with no vent other than the exterior vent under the passenger window. Does it need any venting or did it come from the factory this way? The first night we heard quite a bit of cycling fan noise with the lights dimming each time (we were plugged in). After that first night it ran without making any noise and experienced no more dimming.

2. Has anyone done anything to reseal the engine compartment access hatch between the front seats? I think it gets a tight seal, but some of the old seals look like they have seen better days and I want to make sure we don't get any fumes in the coach.

Thanks in advance for sharing any and all of your experiences!

Don't know about the univolt, sounds as if you had a bad connection with the lights dimming tho. The engine cover on our MH has a hinge along the front edge which makes it quite difficult to seal, but when we picked it up from the port and drove it home (200 miles), it was hanging off anyway and we had no trouble with fumes even tho the exhaust was shot and you could see the road rushing past (noisy too!) When we replace the cover some soundproofing will definitely go in as well as new seals, but probably no hinge this time, just some good overcentre clips.
All the best, Keith and Sara
