Argosy toilet replacement suggestions?

I would like to replace my old toilet in my Argosy 20' motorhome. I only have 12' in clearance below the molded storage cabinet. I checked the Camping World specs and I don't see one that fits in the 12" spot.

Anyone else found a suitable replacement?

Argosy toilet replacement suggestions?

Greetings Fred!

Unfortunately, I don't believe that any of the current RV toilets are low-profile enough to allow the access door behind the toilet to operate. Your motorhome appears to have a near identical installation to my Minuet. A second issue that you may encounter is that the new toilets tend to have a larger base. The first new toilet that my dealer tried had a base that cleared the edge of the toilet platform by about 2.5". The technician took the measurements and found that there were two options for my Minuet . . . extend the platform or order a toilet that was $200 more than any of the options we had been considering. In the end, we went with the toilet that had the large base and the technician installed trim matching the woodgrain in the rest of the coach. It has been six or seven years now, and I am happy that I went with this option - - - and the storage compartment behind the toilet opens about half-way.

Good luck with your investigation!

Kevin

Argh. I know that I replaced the toilet in my 345 rather than attempt taking it apart and putting in new seals. I'll have to research if I can even get replacement gaskets.

Does this Aqua Magic V low profile Thetford not fit? Check the dimensions, maybe it is not right, but I thought it was OK. I put a Thetford Bravura in my 20' Argosy but I did have to remove the storage compartment behind the toilet. No great loss, it was too small to hold anything anyway.

I just put an aqua magic v in my 28. the compartment door has to be raised up an inch. I did it by flipping the piano hinge. The hinge is exposed now, but it's easy for me to live with.

I thought as a last resort, I'd try the way overpriced Thetford Bent Screwdriver. Turns out, it is (1) overpriced and (2) very effective!

This tool is 100% a "bent screwdriver." It is a long handle Stanley flat-head screwdriver that was bent!

My toilet was holding water at the start of our last trip. I wasn't convinced it needed a full replacement.

The Thetford instructions were spot on! My toilet is now holding water again!

I don't know why, but this reminds me of the "Volkswagen Engine Rebuild Kit" for $11.99 that was a rubber band in a bag.
