Argosy steel cap rust
I am starting to repair the surface rust that has collected at the windshields edge, and around the marker lights.
I have sanded the rust off and etch primed it. Pulled up the marker lights and cleaned underneath. Plan is to run a light coat of bondo over it to match the paint thickness and sand clean. I plan on painting it with roller and brush. This not an A+ resto job, just want to clean the rust and repaint.
Pretty straightforward but just wondering if anyone else has done this and has any advice/tricks? How about the paint to to use(it is Argosy beige) I'm sure it won't match.
I thought the end caps were galvanized, so maybe they need a special paint treatment?
Do be prepared for some water to have got inside. On the parts Argosy I bought, the end caps looked pretty good, but as I got the nose up on the hauler for shipping (approx a 15 degree incline) about a 1/2 pint of water flowed out from around inner cap, onto me sitting in the driver seat.
