Argosy paint..

Can someone tell me if there is a rattle can color that is compatible to the original Argosy factory color?? I am doing some repair around the marker lights on the front end cap and above the windshield seal. If you can tell me the mfg, color and where to purchase would be really helpful..

Looking for cream or off white factory color...

Thanks,
Paul

Lowe's sells some. It is in their Valspar brand. I used it to touch up some spots and you can not tell the difference. They will also mix it by the quart or the gallon.

Do you know what color Lowes calls the paint? Is it in a spray can?

I ran in to a fellow Argosy owner that was using 1960's Ford Wimbledon White for touch ups . Should be available at any auto parts store.

I would color-match the existing color with can paint. Trying to match 35 year old paint with spray paint will be impossible.

My 1977 Argosy was painted a beige/tan color at some point. I had it repainted with the factory codes. The factory color has that yellow tint in it (or "smoker's tooth yellow" as the DW has dubbed it). We both preferred the beige/tan.

I went to Auto Zone yesterday to look for some Dupli-Color 1960's Ford Wimbledon white, They did not carry it. They did carry a Dupli-Color Ford Oxford white. I bought 3 cans. After the primer dried I used the paint. It was a very close match, not perfect but very close.

The rust around the marker lights and above the windshield are now gone, huge improvement. Thanks for the input..

Glad you could get a close match. You might try this in the future.

I don't remember the color name, but repainted an Argosy in the 80's, and the original paint was Dupont Centari, a brand of acrylic enamel.

It looks like the PO did a respray at some point so I don't know how close the Wimbledon white would have been. The Ford Oxford white was a really close match. The respray on the front end cap did wonders for the appearance. I just have some caulking to do around the marker light left to do.

Well at one time all the paint codes where listed on service.airstream.com, but I looked today and couldn't find them. Not sure if I saved a copy either... Might be worth an email to them and see if they can send you a copy.

Krylon makes a paint that is very close, I have used it to repaint the rustly endcaps of my parents trailer, and it did very well. But I can't remember what the name!

Hi Fred, Do you still have the factory codes - we need to tidy our Argosy 24 and need the codes for the off white and chocolate brown? Hoping you or someone can help?
