If you are serious you might want to get in touch with a trucking firm like Watkins-Shephard or Swift and find out what it would cost. I once found a truck driver with a flat bed trailer and had him haul a camper across the country for me. It's no problem for a trucker with a flat bed or a drop deck to load the trailer from a loading dock, chain it down and then all you have to do is find a loading dock for unloading - just a thought! This little "shorty" would be a great project for a VAC unit. Stephanie, I wish it could be "tranported" Star Trek style right to your doorstep. I want to bring it home so bad but I do'nt have the ability to do anything with it. All I could do is get it home and hope someone could take it off my hands quickly, without doing the EBay merry-go-round thing. Not that I think I would lose money or anything like that. I really do just want to save "Shorty" or at the very least see that the parts are used by someone of us.

Rough cost of $1.16/mi and 2500 miles from OH to WA put shipping at $2,900. Add on the original investment and I think you're getting close to or exceeding what a running MH would fetch in the Seattle market. I was serious about the small donations to buy the project if there's someone nearby that can store it. OH is a pretty central location and there's been talk of a VAC rally with hands on clinics on restoration ala Oshkosh.

We have a DenCO Unit/VAC Member that has one of these little Argosy M/H...very cute! The best part is they tow another 20-22' Argosy behind it! They call the tag-along the Mother-in-Law Unit...and it really is. Her mom travels with them - they stay in the M/H she stays in the trailer!

Yes, I was afraid the transport costs would add up to too much It's adorable, and I would have no fear of rebuilding the engine or rewiring it, and Darol is nearby to help with the interior. But you're right, I could buy a running one locally for that kind of money.

Yeahbut, when was the last time you saw a 20' Argosy Motorhome for sale. That size is very rare. It is similiar to my Double Door Liner, a real basket case, but unique and needed to be saved.

How does this sound? I will save shorty then it can become a forum project. I talked to the junk yard pres. with title transfer and tax, we are talkin somewhere around 625$, in my yard. All I want is that. With donations (some one else can have this part) Someone else can take it out of my yard and keep it for refurbing on the forum goodwill. Who can take over that endevour? Only an idea. Anyone else have one?

That is a fantastic idea, it is exactly what happened with my Liner. A good samaritan saved it from the crusher and I drove to Florida to pick it up and am now working on the rehab. I hope that this works out, I have always thought the the 20 foot Argosy's were really neat and if I had a place and unlimited resources and a wife who would not kill me, I would take it.
Do you have yard space for it?

Well Stef, I think it is too heavy to haul behind my F 250 on a flat bed. (just thinking out loud here). I wish I knew someone with drop deck. Seriously, there are truck drivers looking for back hauls all the time. Locate a broker in the area that the Mo ho is in. I will talk to someone at work tomorrow who's wife brokers loads for a living. It looks salvagable to me. Especially if you could locate another AS or Argosy that truely is toast. Looks like for cosmetics you'll need all the front end pieces and dash pieces. There are places that will make a wiring harness for you if you have the specs. I'd say the worst part will be getting the smoke smell out of the camper. The guts of motor might be ok with a regasket, depending on the miles and heat damage. I bet if you put a carb on it and did some basic wiring, it would probably run.
It is hard to come by these shortys.
So, Silverhawk, are you saving it from the junkyard for the short term ?
