High volume water pump and high output alternator were installed on my engine. I believe that the word of HIGH will always be better!

In Japan, we have high ambient temperature and humidity in summer, it makes high engine, water and fluid temp easily when in a traffic jam. Also human temp (I meant the driver's and passengers' temperature) rises easily as well. Therefore cooling systems are very important.
And I'm going to go with lots of electrical stuffs, those are an electrical cooling fans, electrical fuel pump, ignition box, EFI system, transmission controller, air conditioner, car audio and more. So I need a high output alternator and large capacity battery.

I made an AC condenser fan brackets before. But the brackets are blocking cores, I think it will affect cooling efficiency due to less air flow. The cooling system is a critical stuff, I want to get the maximum potential as possible. So I decided to redo it.

I made a lot of small holed on the bracket.

It looks something like a custom made stuff, I like this drilled out style!

I'm going to put back the condenser to a radiator then attempt trial fitment it to the Argosy this weekend. I need to check AC hoses, heater hoses and air intake pipe routing with installed the massive radiator.

It's time to install SuperSteer bell cranks on my Argosy. I got those bell cranks in 2019 so it slept in my garage for 3 years. Actually, their shaft is getting a little bit rusty..

It's easy to install, just replace the original one.

And I replaced tie rod end boots. Yes, I know. A tie rod end is an expendable part, it needs to be replaced. But it needs adjusting a wheel alignment when after replacement. I don't want to do that at this moment, therefore I decided to reuse the old ones. I'll replace my tie rods some day.

The bell crank looks very nice! I think should have chosen blue-ish airbag in order to harmonize the color.

I found the only one route for through the air intake duct hose. But there is very close an alternator pulley, so I have to securely fix the duct hose. I'm still thinking about which to use flexible hose or an aluminum pipe. The flexible hose can be routed easily but I think the hard pipe can be securely fixed than the flexible. I don't want to contact the pulley with an air intake.

Next, an air conditioner needs to connect two of refrigerant hoses and two of heater hoses and those need to go through a firewall. I'm going to use bulkhead fittings like this.

Today, I made new heater lines until the bulkhead, so I'm going to hook it up with new air conditioner unit. Then I make refrigerant lines after installed a compressor.

In addition to make engine oil cooler, transmission fluid cooler, power steering and fuel lines in the near future!

Yuki, your craftsmanship is outstanding

For the intake duct hose by the alternator pulley I think you'll be happier with hard pipe over flex in that area. Yes it will be more difficult to accomplish but you won't regret the decision in the long run.

Thank you!!

Yes, to use hard pipe would be better in that place. I will get aluminum hard pipe and rubber joints soon. Actually, I don't want to buy any stuff from the USA due to very depreciation of the JPY currently.. But I need a few auto-parts for my coach before running the motor.

At first, I had thought to install a heater valve in the cabin because it's easy wiring connection but I installed it in the engine bay finally. If the heater valve is installed in the cabin, hot water always come into the cabin when the engine is running, it would heat a foot area even though the heater is off. Anyway, I don't need that foot warmer in summer!

Yuki, here are a few pictures of my Cushman Truckster. It is a 1994 1-ton flatbed powered by an OMC 22 hp engine.

Picture taken just after I got it running for first time. The flatbed is 120 cm wide and 182 cm long. It makes for a great portable workbench or platform.

Thank you for sharing pictures of your Cushman!
It is bigger and longer than I expected. Also its loading capacity is two times more than my Datsun truck, and three times more than Japanese mini truck (Kei truck)!

That little Datsun is definitely loaded down!!

The Goldwing would be 60 cm to long for my Cushman.

Wow that sucks

The Kei truck is similar to the ones we used on Johnston Atoll when I was working there on the island. I don't believe they are street legal here in the USA.

Yes, the Goldwing was too longer for loading on my Datsun. The Datsun has only 6' 5" long on the bed. In addition its cab was extended backward by me, so the bed is shorter than the original. I'm not going to load the Goldwing again.

That's nice! The Kei truck is very useful vehicle. It is very popular especially in the countryside. I've heard kei trucks are used on private properties in the USA.

I'm impressed with the cab extension. That's not an easy task. Please post a picture or two showing it in more detail.

A lot of business use them as well as private individuals. I believe the cheap Chinese knockoffs are becoming more popular due their cheap price

I've modified the cab twice on my Datsun. The reason why I extended the cab was too tight space in the cabin due to the change seats. The original seats were very thin and plain ones, but I prefer to classical or old style ones so I replaced leather seats which were detached a Nissan Figaro.
However, it is very thicker than the original and the backlest was like vertical angle! Therefore, I decided to modify the cab.

My Datsun was able to load a 750cc motorcycle without unlocked the tailgate.

I was able to extend the cab more. But the most important thing was this is a truck. I often load something long stuffs on this truck, for example, plywood panels are about 6' long, hence I wanted to keep 6' long on the bed. So I decided to tilt the back of the cabin.

Yuki,

You must be getting old if you want soft and cushy seats

I like the truck mods and you've done an exceptional job in their implementation.

I'm really impressed with your resourcefulness and ability to get the work done. Seeing the work you've done on your truck explains the high quality of work you've been doing on the Argosy. You have a very good attention to detail.

Do you plan on towing the truck behind the Argosy or a trailer for motorcycles?

Exactly! I prefer comfortability to maneuverability on my truck. I can't imagine driving car with hard seats like a bucket seats.

Thank you so much! I'm honored to hear that from you. My truck has been added exceptional or abnormal modifications since it was owned by me. Probably, I can't sell my truck even if old cars' value is being increased recently, nobody want to buy it due to the modifications! Therefore I keep going my way!

Anyway, I have to resume my Argosy restoration work, I'm going to do that soon!

No, I don't have any plans to do that for now. Because the body size of my Argosy is too much for the roads in Japan, even if it has only 20' long. Towing something should be annoying. However, I'm planning on loading my mini bike with a hitch carrier behind my Argosy.

I'm back on my Argosy!

This is the first time to do working my Argosy in 2023 even if it's already in August. Anyway, it's time for replacing wheel bearings and a seal.

The bearings seem to be OK, but the seal has damaged so it needs to be replaced. I don't want to play with too heavy brake drums many times, so I decided to replace the bearings at this time.

A sliding hammer worked very well for intalling the bearings and the seal due to the deep shape on a brake drum.

The outer bearing needs to be placed on next to a snap ring. (Do not pushed the outer race out more than necessary)

The mission has completed. And I did the same thing to do at the opposite side.

There are still a lot of things to do!!

Nice job

Those drums are heavy aren't they. Did you need to have them machined?
