2" of insulation would definitely be nice! As you suggested, the high traffic areas, which would be right down the center. So you'd be looking at insulating about a 36" to 42" wide section. It would be time consuming but it should be doable. My guess is the main thing to look out for would be the exhaust system. You might need to shield the insulation that is above the exhaust/muffler.

Tony, how far apart do I space the screw fasteners holding the Coosa down?

I wouldn't go further than 6-7". IIRC I started 4-5" away from the channel and stopped 1 1/2" away from the end of the sheet; however your layout may require a different approach.

Finished cutting and fitting the rest of the Coosa board today. I still have about a hundred fasteners to install and should be able to finish that up tomorrow.

There's something about laying a new subfloor that gives you a boost in a project; you know you still have miles to go, but it's clean, it smells clean, and its neat to walk on it. I accomplished something today.

Been there, done that.

Cheers

Big landmark Brad....I am happy for you.

I would get a chair and just sit in it for a while and appreciate what you have done to get this far.

Heck it now qualifies as an aluminum tent so you could join the caravan when it come to the National Park. Beats Mark having to sleep in his SUV!

That's a good idea

Of course the odds are if I sit in the chair I'll fall asleep from exhaustion!

I've been thinking about that. There's still a lot of stuff that has to happen but there's a reasonable chance it that could.

With the floor done I can finally start working on a bunch of little things

I cut the openings in the back for the brake/tail light housings that I'm going to install. They look a little crooked in the picture but that's because they're just sorta sitting in the holes. I'll make sure they're straight before I fasten them in place!

If you're wondering about the left rear corner damage, I'm going to be replacing that panel with one I got from John. I actually cut the opening in that panel first to make sure my pattern was right. I figured if I botched the job it wouldn't be a big deal since I was replacing the panel anyway

I also sealed around the opening in the floor where the fuel filler hose passes through. Putting the gas tank back in place should happen in a week or two.

I plan on making a little housing around the filler opening that's sealed so gas fumes and moisture can't get inside the coach.

Didn't that year have the plastic cowling with the tail lights, or are they like the Airstream tail lights, or are you converting?

Converting. Mine originally had the plastic housing with the rectangular lenses. Only the 74 motorhomes had this style of lense. The 75 and later Argosies used the typical 4" square lense with the plastic housing.

The plastic always cracks and they are a maintenance headache. I liked the looks of the 69 to 74 tail lights from the trailers so decided to use those instead. Besides, they are nice cast aluminum housings

Boy those tail lights look familiar.....almost Toyota like, but not. Do you know what vehicle they came off of?

Cheers

I never could never find out what vehicle Airstream got them from.

The early Argosy trailers used them as well.

As much as I would like to think the dirty grungy work is now done since the floor replacement has been completed I have to keep reminding myself the dirtiest and grungiest task is still left to do. That task is removing the rest of the interior panels, end caps and wall/ceiling insulation

I do think once the insulation has been removed I can say the worst is definitely behind me!

The debate I'm having with myself at the moment is whether to tackle the insulation mess now or put it off and have it continually stare me in the face. I'm thinking of taking the July 4th week off work to tackle this job. I have to keep telling myself, the sooner I get this part done the sooner it will all start going back together again!!

Have you done much or any 120volt wiring while the bottom panels were off? Other than a few outlets is there much 120volt wiring behind the upper skin panels? Have you got your wiring schematic pretty much nailed down? One place I'd add a 120volt outlet would be right behind the drivers seat in the wall. Ive got an extension cord semi permanently run down there. Lynn sits on that end of the couch and uses it for her chargers, also a handy spot to plug in a shop light when working on the motor.
