1979 Argosy RV 1 of 12 NASA edition

Hello! I am looking at purchasing a 1979 Argosy class A RV from my friend. I am told that it was produced for NASA during the Apollo mission, and that it is 1 of 12, and I am wondering if there is a way to verify this. I can't find anything online. After NASA, the observatory in Mendocino acquired it. Is there anyone in the community here who can assist me with verification? Also, how do I determine the value? It is currently completely gutted. Just one drivers seat, and plywood floor. Contains the original Onen generator and two a/c units on the roof.

Here are some details:
VIN #: B28R9V3337
Engine: 454 GMC V8
Mileage: 31,000 miles

Thanks!

I would be very skeptical.....

1) By 1979 the motorhomes were Airstream not Argosy (even if painted)

2) NASA used 24ft Excella

Every NASA rig that I ever saw was silver. I would be surprised if Airstream would have delivered a painted Argosy to NASA. Silver is/was Airstreams trademark that is very identifiable.

Thanks!

I should mention the VIN number is indicative of the Argosy not being originally built as a motorhome. As far as I know when built as a motorhome the VIN starts with an M.

The painted Astrovan is a painted step van not an Argosy/Airstream.

Didn't the Apollo missions start in the 60's and end mid 70's?

Well that's a good point LOL! Last mission in 1972 then a "Apollo"-Soyuz link up in 1975 then Space Shuttle program in 1980's.

Still possible NASA commissioned astronaut transport vehicles at any time though I would think.

Even if NASA did commission these, they weren’t for Astronaut transport/for use as Astrovans, whose vehicles are well documented.
