1974 Argosy Motorhome 24 Project
Hi All! My friend and I just bought this Argosy 24 this spring and have been picking away at it. Always finding new surprises! I thought I would set this thread up to detail how things are going and where we are at with it.
What we've done so far:
- New tires and wheels 6 (This is a duelly)
- Full deep clean and interior paint job completed
- New LED dimmable interior lights throughout a few original lights as well (original reading lights over twin beds in back and over sink)
- New engine battery and house battery and wiring sorted, new fuses in main control panel.
- New Front brake pads and recently serviced and looked over
- New Donut Exhaust gasket at the engine
- New Shower hoses.
- New twin mattress in back, one original mattress with original cover
- New Exhaust fan for ceiling with custom bracket
- New Exhaust fan for Range hood with custom bracket
- Original cushions on kitchen table
- Canopy functions with no rips or tears
- Got all windows open (they were seized) - may need deep clean and weather stripping replaced (Any ideas on this?)
- AC blows cold from roof unit dash/engine unit may need repair
- City Water hookup functional and boondocking water functional tested for leaks and replaced leaking pipes with pex and shark bites. Water pump builds pressure and runs great.
- Gas system working and range fires up.
- Fresh Oil Change, oil filter, and air filter.
- Control panel works and all gauges and button checks work on it, it also lights up. Range hood fan switch works on this too!
- Orange marker lights on the front top in picture are missing has been replaced and repaired.
Still needs work:
- New Alternator on order, current alternator on its way out
- New Valve Cover gaskets to be put on
- We haven't even looked at the generator yet
- Fridge doesn't work on electric and not sure if working on gas. Burner lights behind fridge but not cooling. Compressor is in good shape and not rusted so not sure where it is failing.
- Needs some work on the drivers dash should be cleaned and painted
- Windows should be removed and frames cleaned and re sealed
- May rip carpet out and replace subfloor, put down vinyl
