Overlander weight

Can anyone tell me what the original empty weight and tongue weight for a 1972 Overlander were? After much rework, I would like to get it weighed to see that I stay close to original design.

My '72 Overlander International stock weight, with one pull-out bed in back (is that called a twin or double?), according to my owners manual (I think), was 4,550#. After my remodel, using minimalist methods of reconstruction, it weighs 4,380#. About 400# of this is on the tongue/hitch, not the axles. That means that 3,980# is being supported by the twin axles, which was useful info when I replaced the axles. Hope this helps you in your project. -tim
ps: the lower tongue weight may be from my using gas-grill size propane bottles, not the big ones.

You're very welcome. I would point out by the way, that those weights were for trailers before any accessories or fluids were added. No AC, for example.

In a perfect world, a better idea would have been to weigh your trailer and hitch before your work was done.

My trailer was prety well gutted by the PO. The designed weight was long since altered.
