Overlander pre-purchase inspection

I'm thinking about buying a 1973 Overlander. The exterior seems to be in great shape. We are in contact with the current owner and are hoping to get inside before the week is out. What the things we should be looking for (Rotten floors, leaks, cracked frames, etc)? How do we tell there is a problem with out taking things apart? Repairs / renos don't scare me I just don't want to pay more than it is worth.

Hi valleyboy and welcome to the Forums!

There was a similar question asked just last week, with lots of good responses. You might read through this thread to see if it answers some of your questions:

I'm sure you'll get some answers on this thread as well.

Good luck!

A not necessarily "perfect" used Airstream can be a good deal too.

Just make sure that the repairs won't force you to "hock the house."

Careful, knowlegeable inspection, is the key.

Other than metal damage, the axle replacements are usually the next largest cost.
