Jim:

Happy New Year!! I was in bed by 9 P.M. To old for partying. My wife says she was driving up 75 or 85 and saw an Airstream that looks just like our 73. Did you go camping this weekend?

I haven't seen you post for awhile. I was wondering how yours is coming along?

Brian

Thanks Guys. Just been really busy lately. Not too much time to work on the 'Stream. I have all of the parts made to finish 3 of the 4 overhead cabinets and simply haven't had the chance to install them. With the holidays over, maybe I can get some work done.

Here's to hoping everybody had a safe and happy holiday.

Jim

PS: Brian, that wasn't us on the highway this weekend. Mine's winterized for the season.

It's looking right spritely there congrat!! I'm interested in how you were able to get the back cushions to wrap around and stay in place...mind sharing how?
Thanks again...

Barry, some friends that we know thru Scouts did the cushions for us. They're pro upholsterers. I'll see if I can find out how they did it.

I owe you guys an update. Finally got a few things done. I'll try to post a few pics in a day or two. Just about ready for bed tonight.

Got the overhead lockers roughed in (very rough). More on that in a minute. This one's over the galley sink/cooktop.

Next up is to get the Stove hood/vent restored and installed. The original still works! But it needs a lot of cleaning up and some paint here and there. That's what fits in that hole in the shell above the new cook top in the overhead.

Jim & Susan, Did you use the original metal edging on the overhead lockers? If I were to guess, I would say that you took the originals down to bare metal. It looks good.

The bottoms of these are made of the same 1/4" birch plywood that's used elsewhere in the camper. The faces are made out of a single sheet of 3/4 birch. I figured I needed the extra strength on the vertical parts of the shelf. Eric helped cut these out on his table saw. The problem came when I tried to cut out the openings (the openings that the doors will cover). I used a jig saw to cut these out and the dang blade simply would not cut a straight line. Hence all of the curves and misaligned cuts. Arg. At least they'll be covered by the doors.

Jim:

You are doing a great job. Everything looks really sharp. I like the christmas present. I can't wait to see your work up close.

I miss your picture of the beer with all your projects.

All I had at the time was "Naty Light" when I took the pics. I figured you guys were bored looking at the same flavor all the time.

Your beer shots are inspirational. I recently took a pic of my twin bed restoration and had my brand of beer in the picture. It just made the bed look even that much better. I can't wait to hook up with you guys some day at a camp ground.

Adrienne and I Just met a new airstreamer in Loganville. He has the same one you and I have. He got a primo trailer. It has spent its life in a barn. The floor is like brand new. This guy will make this thing look awesome when he gets done with it.
