'72 Overlander renovation

We are starting a Frame off renovation of our just acquired 1972 Overlander. We are about to remove the body after the first of the year and have the Fram repaired, sandblasted, and treated against future rust. I have done a lot of home restoration bit this is our first trailer and will be looking for all your knowledge to help us. I thank you now in advance and ask you to follow us these next few years as we are not in a rush and want to do it right. We plan to live full time in it when done. This is our starting point.

Think this is the Floorplan we are going with since we have a clean slate to work with.

Here you are! I'm subscribing and plan on watching your odyssey. Rebuilding these old Airstreams is a huge project, but a fun hobby. I think similar to restoring old automobiles. I've enjoyed the limited work I've done to my 66 Trade Wind and my 86 Limited. We enjoy "taking off" with the Limited and experiencing this beautiful country of ours. Your goal is having travel adventures in your vintage Overlander, as well as the fun of showing it off to others in the campground. It will draw attention I'm sure.

How did you draw your floor plan? Very cool.

The floor plans are of a new 25ft airstream. We want the bedroom so like this layout for us.

I see. Some Airstreamers are using some fancy software they downloaded to do floor layouts of their trailer. I sketched mine on an 8x11 1/2 sheet of paper. But I'm pretty old school!

Airstream designers are experts in interior layouts. Even my old 66 Trade Wind, and my 86 Limited have pretty well thought out layouts. Both of ours are twin bed versions. The new trailers are even better. Here is a photo showing half the galley, one twin bed, and the rear bath.

Many folks like the side bath new instead of a rear bath that Airstream did for years. I see advantages of both. Now that the wife and I are retired, we like our recliner. I think comfortable seating is very important in an Airstream.

Hello and welcome to Airstreaming as well as AirForums! I look forward to following along with your work.

My DH and I have been working on our '56 Bubble for some time now. Due to work and family issues we were unable to doing anything this year, but look forward to beginning again as soon as the weather breaks in the Spring.
