Finally got an Airstream, 1969 31ft

I have been wanting an AS for years and pulled the trigger on a 1969 Sovereign 31ft. A quick question, how do you remove the interior shroud on the Armstrong ac? I need to fix a rust spot and clean the coils.

I'll post some pics this evening of the trailer. My plans is to just get it camp ready this year and slowly restore as time and money allows.

You have to remove the plastic trim strips that run the length of the roof on each side of the air conditioner. They simply snap into the aluminum channel. The rivets or screws that hold the interior cover on the unit are underneath the plastic.(mine has screws) Be extremely careful and get someone to help you gently pull the strips down. They are fragile, and allowing them to bend too much will break them. Replacements don't exist. Owning a '69 can be interesting. There are a ton of parts exclusive to that year that can be tough to nearly impossible to find. That broken wing window in your pics is going to be painful. I just spent close to $1,000 to replace one of mine. Spend the money and buy a rock guard, it will save you a lot of heartache in the future.

I'm looking at a 69 too. I was curious what you payed and what all needs fixin? Rear end separation? Axles? Etc.

We paid 1500.00. Needs corner window fixed, new lexan in front and rear center window, new fridge, floor rot in front and back, replace plumbing with pex, recover all seat cushions, new window coverings, the list goes on...

But, all in all, I think I got a great deal.

Forgot to include new axles, and rear end separation. Then all the things to make it purty.

I just saw that left front corner window that you need on eBay a few minutes ago.

Yep. That window is a little too pricey for me. I disassembled mine and installed a piece of lexan. So far I'm satisfied with how it turned out.
