Winterization Coming Up

We own a 16' Sport and live in Wyoming. In the mountains it's already dipping into the low 30's at night. I really don't want to winterize yet but we're also planning a trip next month to Yellowstone. Evening temps there will probably get into the 20s with daytime temps in the 50s.
Does anyone have experience with using the heater to keep water pipes from freezing for short periods of time like this? Should I risk it or just go ahead and winterize before the trip?
Thanks for the advice.

Winterization techniques can be very model-specific IMO, so I won’t comment on the specifics for your model.

In general our mantra is “when in doubt, winterize.” Repairing a cracked pipe hidden somewhere deep can be very expensive!

Also, winterizing on the road can be much harder. If you have to winterize twice this season, that is more cost-effective than repairs IMO.

You might want to peruse this Winterizing sub-forum for more info:

Good luck,

Peter
