I think while those 16' models were not as wide, the construction was different to give them a different look. In some eyes the wide body nomenclature also was considering the shapes rather than actual width. And newer 16' models not being as wide did have the "wide body" look. Obviously the trailers in my picture were not 16' models but represent the generational change Airstream made.

I dont know if the term wide body is an Airstream official marketing term. If compared to a narrower Airstream, and there are. It becomes a relative comparison, so one may consider an 8 wide trailer a wide body .

AS Widebody
All AS 25' and longer starting 1995 are "Widebody AS". They are 8'6" wide. Makes a huge difference inside. Any AS 8' wide is not considered a "Widebody" True, there are some AS models less than 8' wide, the older 22' Sport being one of them. But you can't call any 8' wide AS a "Widebody".
