Refrigerator replacement

So, my 2014 16 ft sport had the Dometic gas/ 110 refrigerator (RM2351) which would not cool when the temperature outside was over 95°, the door opened many times while traveling and my wife did not like turning it off at gas stations. I installed a Dometic NRX 115S Compressor Refrigerator, which I purchased from Amazon (disclaimer; I received no funds from anybody for this post) I removed the old unit and the floor, capped the propane line under the trailer, rolled back the wiring and taped the ends. Ended up with 3 sets of wires rolled up under the sink. The wood panels under the stove above the old fridge were connected with green painter tape, which I replaced with foil duct tape( not the other duck tape). I cut the bottom front trim panel and moved to the top of the opening and then cut the opening wider. I moved the rubber seal forward about 4 inches, electrical came from the power distribution area under the dining seat and the drain tube used the old holes from the removed gas line. With the floor removed, spacer blocks were installed for the electrical to run underneath the new fridge. I installed a drip tray under the vents, draining outside and once the fridge was in place and fastened in the front, I fabricated a pair of L brackets to attach to the back and cabinet sides. The fridge worked great on our first trip out, has more room, the unit is very quiet and only used 14% of a 280 amp litime lithium battery in 8 hours.

Nice report and description of your conversion from a propane fridge to electric only in a 16’ trailer. Thanks.

Respectfully, I have trouble with the word “only” in your conclusion that it “…..only used 14% of a 280 amp litime lithium battery in 8 hours.” In eight hours 14% of a 280Ah battery is 39Ah which over a 24 hour period would be almost 120Ah. At this rate just the fridge would kill a 100Ah bank in less than a single day, a 200Ah bank in less than two days, and your 280Ah battery would be depleted in 2 1/2 days. ONLY?!?!!

We have a single 100Ah lithium battery in our 16’, and with the propane fridge and fans running we are good for a week to ten days on a single charge. It only uses about 10Ah per day. Now, that is “only”.

I understand and appreciate the many advantages of electric only fridges. But, in my opinion they are flat out power hogs and don’t deserve to be credited with any kind of efficiency.

Looks to me like it is a relatively small under the counter fridge. Imagine the power consumption for an 8 cubic foot fridge. Only makes sense to me for full hookups only.
