Options for Upgrading Shower Head?

Hi Streamers!

I wanted to check in with you guys and see has anyone upgraded the shower head in their Bambi travel trailers? The pressure on the factory shower is pretty weak… looking for more power!

Thank you in advance!

A really popular retrofit for many RVers is the Oxygenics head. I had changed to one in both our past trailers, and it made a world of difference. They were just a simple remove and replace for the stock showerheads.

Both of ours looked like this: Oxygenics head on Amazon

Yep, Oxygenics. But the hardware did require a bit of ingenuity/modification to get it to attach to the shower wall, as I recall.

Also…IF YOU THINK your shower water pressure is low…. don’t forget you have a screen/filter at the water pump. We found all kinds of “threads” or fibers in our screen once and after cleaning it had a good improvement in water flow.

I just installed an Oxygenics. Just unscrew the old one at the very top above the elbow/hanger assembly and screw the new one on. Took less than a minute.

If it will mate-up to your existing head…fine. The Oxygenics unit did not fit onto the existing wall-hangar in my 22’ Sport. so I replaced the entire unit including the flexible hose all the way to the faucet.

Thumbs up

Another positive recommendation on the Oxy; I haven't run across a better option yet.

You are not likely to have the same kind of jet pressure of a residential or spa system, but then again, you are camping, and if boon docking, with a limited supply of water and a limited grey water tank.

We liked the Oxy so much, we bought two of the larger ones for home. The Venturi effect in these designs improve perceived water pressure while using less water. - Brad

We’ve got the same shower head. It’s a nice little upgrade.

I installed the Oxy as well and love it, had to replace the wall hanger bracket but also bought a large, plastic coated "S" hook that we use mostly to hang it on the wash rag bar, we do not really use the wall bracket plus it solves the problem of the shower head falling off the bracket while traveling. (This is in a Sprinter RV not a trailer)

Oxygenics 92489 Fury RV Handheld Shower - Brushed Nickel

On my 2022 it just screwed right on the original hose head. I always remove it and store it under the fridge when traveling.

Why would you remove the shower head each time? Is it too heavy?
We had the oxygenic shower head in a previous trailer. I didn't like it too much but got used to it. The standard shower head that came with our trailer in 1994 works pretty good. Sometimes the water pressure is weak at some campgrounds so I just supplement with the water pump and get a good strong shower.

Years ago I had the plastic hook break off when traveling. The hose also bangs/ rubs back and forth on the shower wall which leaves marks/scratches. I use to just lay the head on a towel in the bottom but the hose still bangs on the wall. It just takes a minute to remove.

Can you just drill out the flow restrictor?

You're trying to use less water while still feeling like a strong stream.

Understood. I’m happy to use more water and have a strong stream. Haha.

For those having the problem of the shower head falling and bouncing around while driving these are the vinyl coated S hooks I got, the Oxy showerhead has a hole to fit onto the hook and stays put on rough roads. Of course you have to have a place to hang the hook, we have a bar across the soap shelf. The remaining hooks we use in the wardrobe to hang anything from bags to extension cords, or to hang things from the overhead cabinet handles.

Changed to Oxygenics also on my 2018 22FB Sport. No modifications, standard thread. Excellent flow and shut off valve on handle is much better at flow restriction than the original one.

I bought an Oxygenics shower head since they say you will save more water and experience better pressure. So I ran the Airstream shower head into a bucket for one minute. Then did the same with the Oxy head. Guess what, they both use the same amount of water. Save your money...

I think the idea is the Oxy swirls the water out with more force and a wider pattern so even though it uses the same amount you get done quicker, therefore using less water.

That’s right, that’s Federal Standards. Theoretically Oxy claims stems from how the water is mixed with air and the spray pattern that saves water.
